this evening a quick rush out to launch a few @ 578yds & 656yds-h4198/3031-15/67. wind @ approx 7mph from right to left. jbm called for 13.6 moa dial up @ 578yds with the prior .410bc i was using. i over-compensated as usual but this is the first time moa was actually as listed by parker @ .425(old stock 325be's)hit high approx 8"" with a dial up @ 14moa@ 578yds-bullet drift was 12'' which again equals to approx .6bc deflection wise. group measureed approx 4.75''@ 578yds-the first shot had a slight delay & noticed it loaded a little harder but dont know which shot of the 3 it was but i have a suspicion! 656yd target was not struck but after calculations i should have hit high approx 12'' which was the height of the box over the bullseye-in other words my over-compensation put me over my box-too bad since i had 3 great "dead-x- cracks at this distance tonite- will resume tommorrow but will have to go to the 327's since out of old stock. i hope nothing changes in the load set-up. the bc change im sure is due to our new improved load that is approx 2650fps vs. prior best @ 2400fps-what a huge difference. its again appearing again this bullet is .430trajectory///.6 deflection// wow

thx all for the nice replies & such! i am satisfied at yesterday's results especially the first crack going off like a "flint-lock" ;D but there is definetly more accuracy to milk out of this set-up imo. tonite no pic's but a transfer to the 327's resulted in a "one notch" tighter on the swinglock die to get these down the bore after adjustment made 2-2shot groups w/same load h4198/3031//15/67,one was .5,the other approx .6 @ 204yds both verticle in nature. pulled the vent & it measured approx .038 just after approx 15shots---** i do note even @ approx .038 no difference in poi on target & no visable pressure signs on primer etc> there were some errors on my prior thread post regarding speed-correction is approx 2626fps-after going over the data from my dial -ups yesterday i should not have struck the box @ 656yds-there was approx 20'' difference which should & did put me over. even at 578yds i should have hit approx 10'' higher than i did so trajectory bc will still be evaluated from here on out. aka-"fine-tuning" everything is set-up for a long-range return. on a humor note last evening while shooting-just behind me 8 deer were feeding(on wheat) & watching me shoot never acting nervous & they were only approx 250yds-they seem to know!

Awesome shooting deadeye, I noticed as well with the new 327s 1 hash more needed to match proper size. I was at the range before I realized this. Ray

I have a pac-nor .45 on the way, and was wondering what I need to do, so I can shoot these combo's of powder's and bullet's. I have a stock mlII, with lam/thumb,and soon to come .45 pac-nor dd..do they need to be resized or kurnled or is it possible they will work just as they are.. thanx Mike

3/31/11-update-started by firing six straight shot starting @ 665yds then to 463yd target noticed right from the 1st one loaded they were rough going down & inconsistent. this is the first of this noticed since i started this journey. perhaps the barrel need a scrubbing? will return to 204yd bench to get more consistent loading with this bullet. i think all shots fired were dead-x cracks. the barrel was starting to warm a little on approx shot #5 & 6 which were @ 463yds

Deadeye
Still following with keen interest as to how far you are going to take this. Not that long ago 500yds was barely achievable but now the picture is how far past 500yds will this accurately go.
Nicely done so far.

a summary- with farmers soon to return to fields my time afield will be limited at best until next fall. this evening i have noticed copper in the bore-probably some of the reason for the stubborn difficult loading this evening. once returning w/327be & adjusting to its liking i'm much sure greater groups are on the horizon. **the "unsung" hero= the burris xtr tactical 3x12x50mm mil-dot scope- not to open a can of worms but this is side parrallax & is one tough true hunting tactical hunting scope- it has took a pounding & has proofed, performed & well worth the $$$,i own 3 & wish i could afford 15 more. bloops & blunders- #1-this evening i accidently left my range-finder on the truck bed-took off & you guessed it "crunch" ;D #2-while in the varget testing i put while duplexing small amount of powders in "dixie cups-caught myself returing "booster powder to main powder cup- no big deal just tossed the small amount in dixie cup out- i now cover the non-intended cup with a business card to avoid this mis hap again #3 twice- i caught myself almost placing the wad over the booster before pouring the main in. i now have enough data & deflections to accurately pursue very accurate bullet placement at some extended ranges. special thx to tg,edge, savageshooter & davew,et & more for their help. i have recieved some pm's regarding set-ups & such & if i can be of any help-don't hesitate to ask pm or on the board! call this my calling & contribution!

Pardon my ignorance if I missed something in trying to keep up with your exploits. I recall that you were having stabilization issues at around 500 yards awhile back. It certainly looks good even at 600 yds + now. Was it just the velocity increase that solved this or have you changed something else?

picks- i would talk to tom post @ swinglock- i have no experience with the drop & full form
spaniel- i'm guessing the speed was very important, & it could have been obturation, basically needing a hot quick boost.
i think savage shooter nailed it on another thread regarding sabotless needing at least 42k-45k,i would not doubt near 50k as a norm imo

Pressure Trace: PN45 H4198/IMR3031 15/67gr 325be sabotless At deadeyes request with bullets he supplied, today, I tested the load above. My guess is that ET will appreciate the shape of the primary peak downslope. Gage and Module Manufacturer = RSI USB model Trigger Sensitivity = 2, Strain Gage Voltage =4.9 Gage Factor =2.1 PSI Correction Factor: 0 Barrel Temp = 65 degrees F. measured at the sensor (IR). Barrel Type: PacNor .45 Cal Muzzleloader Barrel OD = 1.06 in Barrel ID = .452 Breech Plug:Savage Std. (screw-in ventliner) ventliner orifice .032in. Sensor dist fm BP=1.1 in. Bullet Diam.= .451 in. Deadeye Still following with keen interest as to how far you are going to take this. Not that long ago 500yds was barely achievable but now the picture is how far past 500yds will this accurately go. Nicely done so far. Ed et-in my mind originally i had 750yds as my approx max. i really like to push a firearm to its limits just to see. we would have been there already if not for the recessed plug delay. i'm not quitting by any means just my range will be planted soon unless a cold spell or something delays & lets me back -on in which i will if i get the chance. since i'm going to adopt this load for next years hunt for now-it is an excellent time to monitor vent wear & the routine for this barrel for everyday accuracy etc. in other words get to really know how this 327be responds to get in the groove with one known accurate load. this evening with a spotless bore its appearing much like the 275be prior-starting to settle in @ 6 fouled (327's) & i again made a slight adjustment approx 3/4 of a notch(swing-lock smooth die) even smaller for consistency the bore has returned to the nice loading as prior & no doubt the 10'' flier was a result saying it finally wanted cleaned after approx 75shots. i am still confused to quick vent wear with tg's trace at only approx 41k tg-thx again for your valued work!

Deadeye
First off I believe you have a good chance of reaching your goal with the way it is progressing. If anyone is going to make it your determination is going to get you to that finish line. I also enjoy seeing the observations you are noting as you go. It helps define what is affecting the load. As for the vent wear my personal belief is time under level of pressure is causing the faster wear.
As for the pressure trace characteristics shown I would have no problem of being comfortable with this existing level of secondary spike shooting sabotless because it is not displaying a real erratic variance.
I too agree that TG’s contribution and help with traces has been invaluable. Here he’s helped the blind to see.

4/2/11 rel 7 77gns@2657,2644,2640fps 79gns@2700,2690fps 81gns@2712 buldged primer much like in past re7 76gns-2650,2629,2702-sun came out during last two reading's probably error readings wind was at 20-31mph-tried to squeeze all when wind recycled & pushed up approx 24-25mph, 3shot group @ approx .6*note far right shot was on board prior* spotless from clean bore-h4198/3031-15/67-5 shots to get barrel back in groove-#1 was hammered down bore-very tight testing some r7 especially after the tg trace w/300gn rem with the approx proper curve. noticed w/ r7 the bore was very very consistent while loading possibly suggesting it is very efficient burning wise. lehigh vent spent in 9shots approx .035+ w/r7 various loads vent going approx 10-12 shots w/h4198/3031-15/67 load since vents are going with both loads & i do expect higher pressures w/r7 but feel it is very safe,it will possibly bring up the question-r7@ higher pressures vs. h4198/3031 with lower pressures w/ soft 2nd spike. assuming the trace w/r7 looks better with less 2nd spike& of course accurate tg is working on those(r7 traces w/325ftx) as he gets to them-it will be interesting-imo

It even bucks the wind pretty well. I hate that you are losing your range and we will not get to see load development for awhile.
