**thread-note** much of the early data was showing false pressure signs(bulged primers due to using a deep recessed plug)** >decided today to just get some idea on starting loads & such. started at 44.5(20% less my 275be h4198load) fps@44.5=1978,then upped to my proven 275be load 55.5-pressures signs showed w/buldged primer cup w/flattened face-fps-2313. backed off to 53.0h4198 speeds @ 2274,2247,2245 w 3shot group ctc approx .365@100yds,then to 204yds same load,shot#2 called high@12'00 due to premature going off while positioning my shoulder pressure on rest & numbing fingers in these high winds. w/flier approx 2-3/4'',throw #2 approx 1-1/'2''. this loads shows very much long range promise, conditions were poor but somewhat consistent w/17-25mph/90deg approx 34deg-30deg//recoil was not bad very similar to the 60.0n120bo load

Apparently it will stabilize at lower than recommended speeds and twist. Look forward to seeing more results, pretty impressive start!

so far stabilty is superior as all shots w/ respective speed seem to have gone where they should have. so far deflection even though this is preliminary & @ short range is right on track w/jbm ballistic @ .430bc,later the the field results at longer ranges will show the truth but for now im trying to get to 2350fps safely & accurately. today went w/ duplex main imr3031 petered out approx @ 2120fps,switched to a little faster burning rate powder 2015 & this shows some promise but had to quit @2200fps until a later date. i did note all the slower 2015 speeds all went into a bughole @ 100 until i got in the 2175fps+ range & then a straight vertical line of bullet downward as speed increased.that is a good sign. im giving some of this data generally in hope's someone does not stuff that 73 h4198 load on parkers web as this would be a huge mistake for my gun & others here.it was definetly designed for something else

How much 2015 to hit 2200fps?

davew-my booster sr4759,the only one of the book loads stocked on my shelf & since it was holiday weekend could not venture to hopefully get hold of some vv-n110 for booster, the 2200fps load was sr4759 -5.0/ accurate 2015-56.0

update-today went through some powders searching for more speed to no avail. put in a new vent as old was appox .034,went back to 53.0gns h4198 & picked uo 50fps right at 2300fps/325be. had just 4 knurled bullets left so decided to go out on atv & set -up as time was running out today but conditions were as good as it gets/partly overcast w/ some sun @ times with approx 4mph wind, mirage was very readable & on the crawl. the goal was just to set up quickly to see if bullet stability would hold up @ a longer distance since i have not launched any past 204yds. the target ended up at 404yds shooting off an atv on a guncase was my rest. had some verticle @ 204yds prior on the bench so no surprise some more out long. to my surprise holding up 2.5mil approx w/.7 off windage bullets struck very close to where they should have even no definate aiming point. shot #1 clipped the cap,#2= i had down pressure to get on target & was called as low, hurried & shot 3 & 4. not bad. all in all a good day as these are not the best groups but a good solid bench will help. i think i can get rid of the verticle possibly by duplexing to get the bullet obturated more quickly

smokeeter, these were @ 404 yds,it was a rush job(dropped a box off, backed up ,ranged ,(laid guncase across atv rack bars, with gunrest on top of case)to test for stability at a decent long range,if they were not stabilizing i was going to abort this bullet, looks like if i can get the vertical out this will be an awesome choice for elk, moose, bear & even a little long range fun. this bullet has a jacket of .028. when i approach 2250fps i start buldging primers using my recessed plug. i might try a stock plug to see if theres any difference later.

FYI, Quickload would estimate that 55.5 grains of H4198 with a 325 grain projectile would yield 2303 fps @ 51.8 kpsi.
Nice shooting, can you give the dimensions of the 325 ? OAL and nose length would be great.
I think that these were listed before, but I don't recall where.

just another interesting update so far in my testing,no pic's but this evening launched 3 shots @ 335yds in 12-16mph/90deg wind,so far elevation is on par w/jbm //.400bc// but deflection is approx 50% less than charted this bullet is very interesting & definetly has my attention, cost me another $200 for quantity 100 hundred for farther testing.

I noticed on Parkers site (blogger) that some are using 71 grs H4198 with the 325 gr. What type of gun and breech plug/ventliner will hold up to these pressures? Iam going through ventliners in 30 rounds at 53 gr H4198 at 2300 fps and the recoil is severe in my 45 Pac-Nor. Iam on my 3rd order of 50 325s now, honey is that refund check in the mail? Ray

just weighed my lam pac (woody) & it scales 11.6lbs without the load,it has a nice buttpad & really is nice to shoot the 325. dont know about vents as the old one had some h4198 /275be's out of it guessing 60shots then 34shots w/325,vent measured .034,just pitched anyway even though accuracy was still great, i have let the carbon build-up just beneath the primer cup & will leave it that way for now. hopefully this weekend to stretch out in the 500yd+ range for groups probably 2shot gr's & i will push it further if still sucessful there. if windy conditions exist i will go out & learn the deflection @ longer ranges. today went back to my 204yd bench to make sure something did not change & connected with my prior group holes meaning those deflections yesterday are for real, this apparently is going to be a real windbucker w/deflection bc close to .6bc approx. as far as that 71gn load there ignition system must be totally different.53.0 h4198 is my max & my go to load. maybe later might duplex possibly 5/48//n110/h4198//rkrobson-how are your groups etc with that 53.0load?? hope im not boring everyone else to death here ;D

deadeye - your not boring me at all. matter of fact I keep checking back for updates just about every day. That 325 has had my attention since it come out. My tight asss ways have kept me from ording them. Heck I have only shot a few 275's sabotless for the first time a couple weeks ago. I shot them 275s with 60 grains of H4198. The primer says thats about all it wants. It shot pretty dang good though. I love the thought of no sabot if I get it to work out.
Hey does that 325 load with the spinjag? Or did you have to modify it?

j/long//bob parker had a spin-jag designed for the 325,think it was about $21.00,on my ball starter just drilled with a bit to allow for its extra tip length. i'm prepping the 325 no different than the 275-resizing down through my .448 die & knurling up to fit & i think its easier than the 275 even though thicker jacket, the 325be's mic'd at approx .449 out of the box.

My groups have been moa out to 150 yds and 3"-4" at 300, Ive been using bullets that Bob sizes for me as well as knurling my own. Ill admit that most of my shooting is done with BH 209 as out west I cannot use smokeless. Ive had more difficulty with the 325 compared to the 275 in getting the results I desire. With BH the fit is more critical as you need to get the pressure up by the fit not the powder imo. I believe this is whats burning out ventliners rapidly. Have any of you guys hardened your vents? or used a 1/2" long threaded vent? Ray

The shortest life span was approximately 70-80shots with a load that may be in the mid to upper 40k psi depending on how close the estimate is. My plug is shorter on my #1 than what you guys are using so maybe there is less gas flow to erode the vents. A friend is getting good accuracy with various FTX's sabotless with BH 209 in a Winchester .45. He is boosting it with T-7 though.

Boosting BH, sounds interesting, Pyrodex is supposed to be the easiest sub to ignite, Is T-7 a hotter powder? How about a 1/2" threaded ventliner? any takers? Petes going to do some for me, I'll let you know. The 325 BE is the ultimate bullet for my hunting as the bc sets it apart, as out west 200 yds shots are common and the retained energy is unequaled at long range. Let me go check my mailbox for that refund check. A quick side note, Bob Parker told me yesterday that the jackets alone for the 325 are going up 27 cents. Ray

update-1/15/2011,today winds here were very strong ranging from 17-26mph/90deg. the goal today was to push greater distance/524yds- w/325be an absorb deflection results & stability at even more distance even though winds were strong somewhat consistent with gust of 8mph over constant. we only took 4 shots & had to wait several times to evalute & get the shot off somewhat accurately with the gusting winds, shot #1 was approx 2.0 mil hold @20+mph striking the box (25'' to right)& measurements recorded.//#2 was an adjustment hold of approx 4.0 mil crosswind(overcompensated by 9'' approx). then handed my pac to a friend for his try landed just above approx 9'' from my #1,however this loaded loosely & bullet keyholed , i then took #3 w/approx 3.5mil hold feeling confident i could get the cap or very close after thinking the prior adjustments & wind, called shot & wind & rode down to see hit @ approx 1:00 in cap. i had to travel out of town but will look over my notes to accurately set-up the deflection table & elevation from our field results. overall im very pleased w/stability & am guessing the deflection started to deteriorate(even though very good) past 400yds. next on the agenda is better conditions & working the scope to see if it proofs since these shots were all held in a gray area target,el-approx 5.0mil-el w/windage from 2.0mil to 4.0mil with differentating winds to the best of my ability.winds were from l to r/90deg

The .430 bc worked exact for me out to 300 yds using my Zeiss Rapid Z 800 reticle scope with a 150 yd zero. The real test of bc will be at 400 and beyond as your doing Deadeye, Ray
