We had extremely heavy fog here in western/central and northern Indiana this morning.Thick heavy fog has a way of penetrating deep into your core and I had enough of it by 9:30 and got up and eased over to the field edge to see if anything was still out feeding. There was...I estimated the range at 350 yds and held right on the top of his back. At the report he kicked and started back peddling. He peddled about 15 yards and went down. The load I was using was 60 grns of N120 pushing the Barnes 195 in the Harvester blue non-crush.A complete pass through that emptied the blood reservoir very quickly!Pics to follow later.BTW, the actual yardage was 307yds. I found out that I hit him a little high, that is above centerline. I aint complaining! ;D Gotta go now as it is Father/Son bambi terrorizing time!

I couldn't see much past 60 yards this morning, fog was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Great shooting! Mike

I'm envious. Have only seen 5 anterless deer today. My son-in-law got a magnificent 12. What did you get? Sounds like a great shot.

No deer stories this evening. Did not see hide nor hair. The buck I shot this morning is nothing to write home about. He was a basket rack 6 pointer. My time is severly limited due to my sons football and wrestling. The last couple of years I just take what ever hand is dealt.Besides, I have not found any good antler recipies! ;D I will get pics in the morning as I am to tired to fool with it now.We hunted our squirrel dog for severals hours in rough terrian.Thats hard on a fat boy! ;D
Zen, Typical Barnes performance... ;D

Tar.........Nice shot! I can see you are making a rapid transition from the "60 gr. N-120/300 BO" to the "60 gr. N-120/195 Barnes!" Richard

Rick, prone huh? I am learning every second Rusty That is the steadiest of all of the positions. I learned it in the service but later with the BIG guns it hurt sooooo bad I gave up on it. Now that I am back to my 243 I will give it another shot ;D Rusty

If you want to think of 300yd shots, invest in a Harris bipod (tall model is best for hunting). I never leave home without one!
Looking forward to the detailed report.

Very nice shooting, is that what they mean when they "Say got low and go"
I have the Barnes 195's and blue sabots, had them for several years, I think its time to try them out, It will be a nice change from shooting my .50, with the Barnes 400gr. bullet, thats getting old....so am I.
