Been doing some reading about the H&R Buffalo Classic. Some people are re-chambering them to 45-120. Who would you have do this work and what would it cost? Warren

I'm not shootin it. Just heard about people doing it. 45-120 in a 7 pound rifle is not for me. Warren

I picked up the new H&R Sat. late in the after noon. I had loaded some 405 gr. cast and jacketed. My Lyman # 49 manual had loads for the trap door, modern lever guns and the Ruger # 1 or # 3 ONLY. I stayed in the loads for the lever guns although I was told the H&R would hold the heavier loads. After all they barrel them with center fire rounds a lot hotter than the 45-70. Glad I only loaded 10. I came home and loaded the trapdoor loads 24 gr SR4759 405 cast bullet. I don't think I need a 45-120. Warren

I stayed in the range for the modern lever guns. And not the top of that range but yea an 8 lb. rifle did back up a bit. Warren

The trapdoor loads are fun. But anybody who purposely shoots a Ruger #1 loaded the way my book says it can be loaded . Is a far better man than me. Or just enjoys pain. I traded the H&R off tonight and got the Pedersoli Billy Dixon Sharps. Man it's pretty. Weighs 2 lbs. more. Hope I like it. All I want to do with it is shoot paper, and steel plates. The H&R shot 6 inches low at 50 yards with the rear sight all the way up. I did some reading on the net and others had the same problem. I called H&R and they said some went out with the wrong sights so they are sending both the front and rear. I'll pass them on to the dealer I traded with. I told him up front that it shoots low and new sights were on the way. Warren
