I went pheasant hunting with a buddy of mine today. Saw a few shot one. Then we went to a spot where I shot my limit last night. I saw a coyote in the distance last night but it moved on as I got closer.
Today my buddy said a coyote was hunting with the dogs and when it got close to him he shot it twice with 11/4 oz #6s. I found it in the creek about 75 yards from where he shot it.
We moved to another spot and his male short hair pointed another coyote curled up on the ground and it just looked at him so he shot it to. I've never shot a coyote pheasant hunting and here he shot two in two hours.
Must have been that nice little CZ Bobwhite I sold him a couple weeks ago. Warren

Your right Posey. That is not normal at all. We used to hunt a lot of drainage ditches and would post people at the end because those birds could really run! i loved posting as you never knew what was going to come running down those frozen creek beds. yotes, foxes. I shot a lot of yotes every year in this manner.

I seen both the yotes after they were dead. They looked like young ones. Had nice full coats of hair, didn't look sick. But I'm not an expert either. Last Thursday my Short Hair started walking on her back legs to see over the grass while we walked up a hill into the wind. On the other side she went on point but with her head up instead of low. I didn't see it right away but it was a coyote about 50 yards away when I saw it. Don't know how close it was when she saw it. After he cleared the area we walked about 25 yards and she went on point again and two roosters got up. I guess the yote was stalking the same birds we were. This one appeared older than the two my buddy shot. We had a bad winter last year with a lot of corn left in the fields. I don't think a many yotes were shot last year. Warren
