Had a short but successful hunt yesterday evening. Took my 8 yr old son who is eat up with the hunting bug. Got on stand about 6:30 and deer started coming out before 7:00. Had nine deer in range at one time- 6 does and 3 bucks. He picked out a nice 6 pointer and it presented him with a broadside shot @ 68 yds (put it on a Harris bipod and it is amazing how anyone can shoot). High shoulder shot with 250 sst above 68 gr. of H4198. Pass through was amazing- 3/4" entrance with 1.5" on exit. Buck ran about 30 yds and dropped like a rock.
Amazing part was to be able to see what happened , while the smoke is usually clearing. I only have a cell phone picture and have no way to download to computer. My digital camera was left on and battery was completely dead.
Thanks to all for the help and support getting the Savage ML II up and running.

Thanks for all the encouragement. My 8 year old is very excited about hunting. Squirrel season opens Monday and he can't wait. I am going to try and take me a doe on Saturday. It is the only day we can kill a doe with a firearm. No either sex in rifle season. Thanks again.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments. Both of my boys (ages 8 and 10) enjoy hunting. We try to get outdoors as much as possible. It is nice where we live to be to grab a gun and start hunting in the yard. We don't much property, but have access to a lot of undeveloped area all around the house. I just bought the little one a Marlin XS7 in 308 and it looks promising for him this year. He loves shooting it. I have handloaded him some reduced recoil loads and he shots it like a 22. Afraid he will bankrupt me buying bullets.
Richard: I am about as far west as you can go and still be in NC. I am about 10 miles west of Murphy. I can be in Tennessee in <10 minutes and Georgia in <5 minutes.
Wish me luck for a opening weekend gun hunt in Kentucky on the 13th. I am looking forward to getting a warm-up for the rifle season here in NC Thanksgiving week.
Once again thanks for the encouragement.
