Can someone tell me if there was any recall of Savage ML or ML11 since the beginning of its manufacturing. There is a controversy on a french forum by a guy from France who suggest that there was a recall or that sometime Savage got a batch of lower quality barrels . Even if I read all I can on the subject, I never read anything about this recall. I think that there is the best place to get the true story. Thanks.

buck5611. I don't know if I'm even qualified to answer this. I'm going to try to the best of my ability I have everything from the original ml1 to the to the present I've never seen anything about a recall and as well proven as the ml11 is I could not see any reason for it. Jon

I would think the simplest way to find out if there is any truth to it or it is simply as I suspect Internet BS is to go to Savage's website as I am sure if there was any recall of any Savage products it would be first posted there, then at the most a few seconds later posted here.
Always bear in mind the Internet is almost as big a source for miss-information as it is the truth.
Arthur.

Edge just gave me a quick ‘heads-up’ and I thought I might be able to settle this one real fast. Since I started with Savage Arms before the introduction of the Model 10MLI, I can say with all certainty that Savage Arms has never had a recall on any muzzle loader. If someone has a link to the French forum, could they please e-mail it to me. If I don’t respond, then our server stripped it out as spam and I never received it. Hey Mr. Joe thanks for the posting ,,, now how about a Savage cub scope,,or a cub/scope package, say decent 3/4th tube, 4x ? Just bought a cub for my kids and they can't stand the peep sights, having a hard time finding a good compact scope for it.

It looks like a lot of Canadians but a lot of French also. It makes you wonder about overseas sales. Maybe Joe can give us a guess on how many 10MLs are outside of North America.

It may not be on message, but I met a Frenchman at Moose camp, He said he knows of no public shooting range in France. He lived in Paris. He used one of the camps rifles, after learning how to use it and shoot, took a Moose and had ALL the meat, hide and head, shipped back to France. That had to be a tidy sum.

Bigmoose, He has defiantly got more money than I do of coarse everybody has More money than I do. The way Nobama is going I might be better moving to France. I'm not sure I could get used to the culture. But the way things are going in our country what would be the difference anymore. Jon

Jon, IMHO, any where in the US of A is many, many times better than France, And as far s the French people are concerned, don't take my word for it, just ask anyone who has been there, they can't forgive the US for giving them back there country twice. When I was in the Army, you use to say, When a French woman hears the Germans are coming, they drop there p----, the Frenchman drop there guns.....maybe thats why they call us the ugly americans

My intention is not to hijack this thread or have it become a frog bashing tirade, but my father spent his time in WW-II fighting the Germans in both France and then Germany, and he forever after had more respect for the Germans than he ever did the French.
The example my Father often used to site the difference was this: After the American army finished liberation a french town and it was safe to come out from hiding, out would come the French, and the men would began to drink and celebrate and the woman would then began to try to sell themselves to the G.Is. By contrast even before the fighting was finished in a German town the German civilians would come out and start to clean up the mess and salvage what little they could.
The French as it was already so excellently stated, have never forgiven us for saving their country twice, and they also have never been able to live down the utter and complete disgrace of having surrendered their countries capitol with out so much as having fired a single shot in its defense.
Although no one is sure exactly how many men the Red army lost taking Berlin, the estimations run from around 150,000 to as high as 500,000 men. I guess the difference might lay in the fact that the Germans knew the US Army was not going to bail them out like the French most likely did.

In Berlin in 1962 I organized and ran a rifle and pistol competition between the officers of American, French and West Germans. The French were unhappy that a Non Commisioned Officer was giving commands to Officers. They were disrespectful toward everyone and showed poor sportsmanship from the get go. An American Colonel finally told them they could accept conditions as set up or could withdraw from the match. They cooled off but naturally won nothing. That was the only experience I had with the French but it left a sour taste in my mouth.

I wouldn't mind buying a used ml2 that had originally been sold in France. I am sure they would be in the same condition as most french military surplus arms.
Never fired and only dropped once. ;D

I I R C Gen Patan was told during one of his advances that there was a Frence brigade coming up behind him to help. His reply was , I would rather have a brigade of Frenchman in front of shooting at me than having the brigade behind me helping.
