Been quite surprised at the lack of discussion here and on other forums about how messed up things are getting. Terrible inflation, high gas & food prices. War in Ukraine and the fallout from that. Yes, we have powder, primer and ammo shortages as well. I would take 10 pandemics over the other underlying issues we are facing.
What is everyone doing personally? Anything?
I have been cutting back on spending on anything non- essentials. Buying things in bulk on sale. Storing dry goods, paper goods, canned goods. Eat one buy two. Use one, buy two. Making sure anything we have is well maintained. Cutting more firewood than normal. Keeping the freezers full. Keeping vehicles above 3/4 full at all times. Staying 2 months ahead on pet supplies. And other "stupid" stuff. The stupid stuff is most interesting but won't go into it. I would like to think we are not in a Panick mode but a prepared mode. I know people that have nothing stored and eat out a lot and live in small apartments. Let their gas tanks get to empty before fill up......or putting $10 in. Have no savings or short term cash. I think that may describe the average working class American.
We may be in for a rough ride during the next decade or so and not sure that the average person is prepared for something that could drastically alter their lives. Not even sure if the average American even understands what is going on in the world and this country or their community. As long as they have a phone that works, face book, TV and some McNuggets, it's all good.
Am I the only one who thinks this way? Do you have to be an "older" person to think this way? I don't know. I have a feeling that most of the members here are up to speed on things and quietly just have the same mentality and keep on the down low. Not a bad strategy!
