Hi, great site you guys have. This may not be the correct place to post this, but I have acquired a new gun that I know nothing about or cannot find any info on web. Or the info I find may not be correct. What I have is a barrel labeled “smi 50 cal” it’s on a encore. In my searches it seems that smi gets mixed in w savage gear if that makes sense. At one time I had found a page on web that had suggested loads and info on this barrel and now it seems to be gone. Thanks for any help

I believe somewhere in my paperwork at home I still have a list of recommended loads that SMI sent with my barrel. If I can find it I’ll post a picture.
SMI recently quit making barrels and their website is now gone too.

Guys I got this gun shooting prety good. Went w one of the recommended loads. At the range gun would load well waited between shots and used dry patch after shots. Nothing unusual happened. Today our muzzleloader season opened. When I loaded gun today as I pushed sabot/bullet in the first 12-15” were normal then last length of barrel there was no resistance. Temps were chilly but gun was in truck so should not of been but so cold. What do y’all make of this?

Hopefully a petal was separated from the main body causing the condition you mentioned.
