I have sized some of my 310 APB FF to loose for my 458 DD Pac nor I am using 70 grs of h 4198 with WW209 primers and I was having some misfires . I have the savage plug opened up and using a .40 bushing I was wondering if I could use some Accurate 5744 as a booster with H4198 as this is the powder I have on hand. any help would be very helpful. Thanks Charles P.S I can push the APB down with one hand

If I have gotten some sized too loosely I was able to salvage them by knurling them. That increased the size enough that they worked. If too tight then just resize again but not as much. A booster would also help IMO or at least the combo.

I have a batch of bullets like that myself. Sized them about a month ago and am hoping they spring back a little. If they don't I intend to knurl them very, very lightly. Just a thought that might help you out.

Yes you could duplex with 10gr 5744 and use 60 gr 4198. Or you might try to knurl the bullet on the top half lightly. With the price of these bullets, I would do one and try. Good luck.

I shoot 10 gr. of Clays (or Red Dot) under 60 gr. of H-4198 with both 300 gr. XTP/SST's and 290 Barnes TEZ's smooth sized and seatable with one hand with very positive ignition. The 5744 will probably help but it tends to leave more residue (dirty)than the clean burning Clays.........and velocity will be higher. In and around 2650 fps with the bullets I described. I have been shooting this load and many variations for a couple of years now.........NOT a one shot deal! Richard

Just another option since you have the powder and using the same bullet. Pressure is higher than I care to shoot but Marty has had good results with it from previous conversation. Not sure how compatible it will be with the bigger PFC and bushing, but it is very temp insensitive from TG's testing with a slightly different ratio. dougsmessageboards.proboards.com/thread/14563/got-little-lucky-shooting

Charles i only use a small amount of clays (5grains) with my 310 APB. I am only looking for positive ignition in cold weather. For every grain if clays or red dot cut the Main charge if 4198 by 2 grains. Worked very well for me last year at 0 degrees. The clays being a shotgun powder us easy to ignite.

Well I found some SR 4759 what would be a good amount to use for a booster with H 4198

The 10/60 4759/4198 should be close to your straight 70gns of 4198 velocity wise....

This one was loaded from the breech end to make the bullet tight This one here was loaded from muzzle and the bullets was loose. Dave check these out these are 310APB and 16-56 one of these was loaded from the breech to make the bullet tighter the otrhe was loaded at the muzzle were it was looser.
