I like RCBS equipment and have a new Chargemaster combo and also have had the same old RCBS Rockchucker press for many, many years and while it is still working great, i have been thinking about upgrading to a newer model with more leverage for my aging muscles. What would you guys recommend as an upgrade and why? Thanks for any advice...............KerryB

Kerry,
With out addressing the leverage, I kind of like my Lee cast iron press. The handle can adjusted for different angles. Having a frayed rotator cuff and carpal tunnel surgery on my right side, I am sensitive to repetitive motions. I am able to get the handle to an angle that is comfortable for me. I am eagerly awaiting aging muscles.
Most of my other stuff is RCBS and I like the line, too.

I started with an old Lyman "C" press 40 years ago. It did every thing I wanted it to and never gave a problem. Purchased a Dillion 550RL and it is a great machine, but you need to reload a lot to make it worth the price. Found 2 RCBS RC. at a garage sale 10 years ago, one had a Piggy back set up and the other was just a press. The press is stronger than the old Lyman and a little more powerful. But a lot of the time I use the Lyman because the open front makes it much easer to load with. The Lyman has done many 300 Win Mags with no problem. So to me I guess better is not always better.

I personally but over 5k through my dillon a year shooting p.dogs. I simply love my dillon when it works. Most of my problems with the dillon have almost always been me. I reload at night when I can't sleep. I have a 550b and their SL900 shot gun reloader. With the 550b I load every thing on it 375h&h,338 ultra and 300ultra (use separate powder measure doe to case diameter) down to a 17 rem. I do not have a case feeder for the 550b but it is available. Most of my friends have a 650 and it is faster but the auto index can be a bear to get use to. If you only load a couple hundred rounds a year then it doesn't matter.

He does have some eye candy in the catalog, and he owns some cools weapons also. Full auto multi barrel, sounds like fun.

IF you can find a Herter's Rifleman in good shape, it's doubtful you will find anything with better leverage (sorry, mine AIN'T for sale). However, to set it up, you will need muscles, since it is very heavy. While waiting to find one, I suggest getting a Lee Hand Press for building up the muscles needed to set up the Rifleman. I have used the Hand Press for Tac 20 to 7mm WSM cases. In ALL "cases" the runout is just as accurate as bench presses costing hundreds of dollars. C'mon, now, you're never too old to build up your muscles! ;D ;D ;D

Too bad I didn't know, I recently sold a beautiful Redding Ultra Mag press for $150.00 But seriously, my RCBS Rock Chucker handles all my loading chores including magnum cases. Richard

An old girlfriend gave me a brand new Ponsness Warren "Metallic II" for my birthday about 20 years ago and thats for all intents and purposes the only press for rifles that I've used !
I do have a Lee Hand Press that I carry to the range soemtimes also !
But for all my normal loading I use my PW !
PW is also the only kind of shotgun loader I've ever used .
Woops I almost forgot I used a Lee 1000 for 38's for about 6 months once . Didn't really care for the way that thing worked alsways reminded me of a Rube Goldberg type contraption !

I have an old Redding cast iron "C" and two Lee Turrets. I've had no trouble with any. IMHO, the Lee turrets are a good value, I've put >10k thru them w/o problems. DrDave

Like he says it will build up your muscles too. Give it to your wife....it works just like a Mark Eden bust developer......she might see benefits. If you've already got a Rockchucker why not get a longer handle made to help with the leverage.
