That looks like a mean A _ _, Huntin' machine! Good luck with it and don't be afraid to post some groups.......the good ones and the not as good ones. Members can learn from both good and bad groups............those to maybe avoid ;D. I just show them all and anyone who wants? can pick out what they think might work for them! Richard

Thanks everyone. I procrastinated too long to try out another build before the season and i kind like the way my 50cal shoots anyway. I usually show the first 6-12 shots. Then dial it in and show off my best groups for the day and try a few uncommon loads. I find it very interesting to see the first ones when i know the load data from the previous owner. I really want to work up a cheap 2400fps+ "faster powder" load like with 4759 and a Nosler/Hornady 200gr. After seeing some of the last pressure traces it looks like a nice "plinker" load and i shoot a lot just for fun.

It's been awile and it is a little slower but 31 grains 4759 a 200xtp and a harv smooth blue shoots really well

pposey Was that new jug or old can 4759? I thought the newer 4759 with about 38gr-40gr would put me in that fps range and not blow sabots. Some of the traces were with much more and still reasonable. I know the old data base says start around 31-33gr but it doesnt give a fps. BTW im nearly out of 195BXs but ive got a bunch the 175s i would like to burn up. Anyone been able to get them to shoot with anything but 4198. I dont have any of that. LOL

Yeah, im pretty pumped. Ive always been a 45cal fan. 50cals to me are boring. I wouldn't even own them if i didn't get such a good deal on mine or if they were not SMLs. Mountainam is mostly to blame We had some "heated debates" at times but i saw the error in my logic comparing a sub gun 45 w/BH209 to a 45 SML. Just trying to get over 2300fps accurately with BH209 was expensive and usually not accurate. Using smokeless and the knowledge from this board, its a piece of cake and MUCH cheaper for the powder. The low ES/SD of 4759 at reasonable pressures is very interesting to me. Most guys are chasing the 2800fps and beyond which is cool too. Ive got plenty of N120 and Re7 ready to go for speeds over 2600fps and most of you guys know it works great. Hopefully i can contribute with less common options just for the sake of knowledge and experience. Ive got a wide variety of powders now and Re7 is one of my favorites. Luke used Re7 in mine so hopefully i can give more Re7 data which isn't as popular as 4198.
