Ok I was on Gunbroker one day and came across a MLII that had no bids so I looked at it and it's a pre accutrigger, blue and synthetic. Hmm, nice gun. Comes with tools and owners manual. I think my buddy would like this one. Whooooa it's only $350 buy it now. So I called my buddy up and told him right away. He said he would go look at it but wasn't sure he wanted it. So I thought of another friend that had shot mine last year and took two fine does with it. Well he wanted it definitely. So I gave him the description and sent him to work finding it. I was at work and got a text. He said "can't find it". So I went there on the phone got the auction number and sent it to him. Got another text..."says item not found". Geez. What do I have to do hold this guys hand? I said just do a search for Savage ML and look at every single auction it's the one for $350 buy it now. Got a text later and he said he just can't find it. So I went on there thinking maybe someone got it already. Well it' was still there and I just couldn't stand it one more minute....I bought the d**n thing. I of course had the intention of just selling it to my buddy for what I paid but then I got to thinking. How does it shoot? I have to find out before I let it go. Maybe it shoots better than my stainless. It would look good in my lam thumbhole stock. Hmmm. So there is my dilemma. I know he wants it. I found out in a round about way that he is broke right now. I know I want to know how good it shoots. If I don't let it go should I feel bad? I sort of feel bad now but geez I had to come out of pocket for the gun. I will let him use it any time he likes of course. I just have to find out. Maybe will get some time next weekend to do some range work. Then I think I will know more. Any input?

Why would you feel bad, because you want to keep the gun yourself or because you were texting and surfing the net while you were being paid to work?

Why are you feeling guilty?
You thought about your friend’s need/desire before yourself and provided a first opportunity for your friend to purchase a 10ML-II. He responded in an untruthful manner and that would concern me a little more. Not being judgmental here but that action would define the outline of trust in the friendship that exists.
Putting that aside for the moment if you are planning to share your equipment with your friend I would consider that an act of sharing a kindness and consideration extended to your friend. Your friend should consider himself lucky to have a responding friend such as you.

nope you should feel good about getting a good buy. You gave the guy the chance to buy it (when you didn't have to) and when that didn't happen, you picked it up. If you would of just went ahead and bought it would you feel guilty (ok maybe I would I need another ml like I need another hole in my head) then shoot it and enjoy

i think you will feel better once you talk to your friend and also extend the invitation to use it readily as he may want. bottom line is if he couldn't get it he couldn't get it, that makes it a fair buy. you offering to share this with him knowing he would like to shoot it says a lot of your character and once you talk with your friend, i expect you'll feel much better and he should be greatful for that...

Do not worry about it me and a freind went looking at boats for him. We found a nice boat with a 60hp 2 livewells had a radio really nice boat. He did not move on it for 2 weeks I asked him are you going to buy it or what? He said he had to think about it more. I call him up and asked if he wanted to go fishing he said stop and pick him up. He did not know what to say about my new boat. Then I had to sell my old boat. He had first shot at it he did not move on it you have it now.

You can try to lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Sounds like he's interested in sml but won't take the plunge. You're already "addicted/sick" so it wasn't any problem for you to jump on a DEAL that you knew it was. KEEP the gun and let him shoot it a little. Then I think he will be looking for his own gun instead of you doing it for him. Greenhorn P.S. Hope it shoots good for you....

The pre-accutriger ML II is a good ML... Expect it to have a better barrel than the newer accu-trigger models...Have fun shootin it. Zen

Shoot it, if it shoots better than yours, put your new gun in your lam thumbhole stock and the old one in the other stock and get your money back. no need to feel bad, you did what you felt was right and he was lazy.

I can't believe you bought that out from under me, old buddy. I have come up with the cash now and don't want you feeling all guilty over it, so just pm me and we can make both of us happy. Your long-time friend Howa

Your guilt and shame are so great! You have a compelsion to clear your name of any untoward associations. Only selling the rifle to me at less than outlay, will rid you of the guilt and shame. ;D You can say you bought it and then sold it to a different friend and, with a clean consience, be telling the truth. PM for shipping instructions. Best, 10 ga I guess selling it to me might be an untoward association. LOL

Ok I'm in trouble now. I got the gun in the mail yesterday. Gave the thing a good looking over. Not a spec of rust. Only some minor handling marks. Hmm, no QLA which is a good thing in my opinion. It smelled of bore cleaner so I grabbed a cleaning patch and ran it down the bore. I had to make sure it wasn't a bulged barrel being pawned off on someone else. Holy crap is this thing smooth! I mean butter smooth. Quite unlike my stainless that feels like one of those plastic zippers on a tent when your running a patch down the tube. I'm liking this one a lot.
Only one thing I noticed about the gun is the rear sight had been adjusted to the right. I'm wondering if the previous used the rifle sights only as it appears there have never been a scope mounted on it. Would the windage being adjusted to the right say 1/8 inch indicate any problem? I've only ever used rifles with open sights a few times and the ones I have always were about centered in the windage scale.
So this just solidified my problem. Why did the d**n thing have to be in such good condition? If it had scuffs and scratches and a bit of rust I would have a much easier time letting it go. d**n my luck.

Mount a scope on it and shoot it,no problem at all........lol. Now deciding on what scope ,rings, mounts, etc.,that CAN be a problem. Good luck with your problem.

Hey, if he was as broke as you say he was, he couldn't afford to buy it anyway? Maybe he just said he couldn't find it so he didn't have to tell you he was "broke?" "You snooze.....You lose?" Richard
