Tar, what's the furthest that you could shoot if you had the appropriate equipment? (laser rangefinder, bench to shoot from or good prone position, etc.) I'm not talking about a ML, I'm talking about a LONG range CF cartridge rifle.

My self imposed limit is 400 yds with a .22-250 in field conditions. I shoot within my practiced/comfort zone in field conditions. I am all about hunting. Why do you ask?

23 one shot kills. That proves a combination of good shooters and the proper bullet will do the job. That answers alot of questions for me about the 195s, I just have to see in my guns how they compare to the 200s in accuracy and loading also in my .40. Thanks for all the information.

Tar, to shoot to the distances you listed, are you using a standard scope or one that allows you to compensate or adjust for elevation and or windage? also what is your drop at 200,300, and 400 yards with the 195 Barnes?
I am impressed beyond measure and the performance you describe has me strongly considering to the point of being irresistible a .45 caliber smokeless barrel for my Encore.
Thanks again, Arthur.

Tar I didn't realize you are shooting an encore conversion. I thought you were shooting a savage/pacnor. Anyway,I guess if you put a Pacnor barrel on most anything its going to be a shooter on the condition it is installed correctly and the shooter can shoot, lol.

I am not shooting a Encore conversion...Huntmeister is and I am helping Mark get it set up this weekend. I believe the Pac will shoot on any platform from what I have seen. Mark has a Douglas barrel on his Encore conversion.

Tar, looking forward to your range report of your friends Encore with great anticipation, as it will most likely be the deciding factor on weather or not to do the same with mine.
Would love to build me a .45 caliber 10ML-II or M700, but I just can't justify the cost (+/- $700 - $1000) with a Encore in my safe.
Be well, Arthur.
