John! You bet I'm smillin' ;D That is great shooting and a super accurate gun. Fortunately, your trigger pulling, the load and the barrel are all in harmony. And your not afraid to put FIVE (5) shots on the paper By the way, when you measure a group, it is supposed to be CTC (center to center). A simple way to do this is: measure the widest part of the group and then subtract the diameter of the bullet. (Basically, you are taking 1/2 the bullet off one side and half off the other side.) I'm guessing that your group should be around .6" CTC Richard

.6" on your first outing, Don't loosen a screw, tighten a bolt or anything to that gun ,lol. Bill made you a fine shooter there and I think UG likes how you pull her trigger,outstanding...

That sure is sweet and kinda rare for the first outing. Ive had it happen twice and in one new gun im so happy with the results, i doubt i will shoot any other load for a long time. I was lucky with the other used one and the previous owner had done all the load work for me. You get that warm fuzzy feeling when your first 3 shots are touching and you know you can keep stacking them up. I also like a 5 shot group but in the heat it takes time. Its hard to wait when you get a WOW 3 shot group right off the bat. BTW there is NOTHING UG about that gem. That is more like artwork.

Bill,
They were dove huntin in the nursery today,so no range session. I have to play second fiddle to the dove hunters. Hopefully I can get out in the next week or so with Wilbur. Them groups are a hard act to follow, Bill. Scope is on and recoil pad's comin--backordered.

Tar............why don't you get over the "Hunting Thing?" Probably everyone that has been on this forum for a few weeks has a ML that is capable of killing a ton of deer out to 200+ yards! And we know that with a ML it is going to be the first shot in 99.9% of the cases? The Five shot thing is more or less a "confidence builder" in ones rifle. When you start shooting five and yes, ten shot groups and they all stay in a nice tiny group, it makes you feel that "no matter what?" the gun/load is going to bring home the bacon. It then gives you more reason to NOT blame the gun (when you miss ) but rather the trigger puller ;D Richard

Richard..... I will when you quit ridiculing people for not shooting 5 shot groups as you have in this post. Are you going to trash another post?

Since when is opinions trashing?
I don't shoot 5 shot groups, because I save all my one holers, and if I went to 5 shoot groups I'n ruin 99 percent of them.
In the end muzzleload hunters are using a one shot rifle, unless you can call a time out with the game, so you can reload, How would that work with game that can bite or claws back.
Once again very fine shooting

Tar, I don't want to get in a back and forth with anyone on this board, I enjoy it too much. You have your prospective on Richard remarks, I have mine. I consider my self a good paper shooter, for my age, I have been told many times by folks who know that I'm a superb game shot but Richard is in a different category, a former record holder. So his observations come from his prospective, to me all opinions are welcome. This board should be for infomation and fun. I have done enough fighting for a dozen folks, now I like peace and harmony. Good Luck and Best Wishes to All

People benching these guns for 5 or 10 shot MOA performance are in the overwhelming minority here. Almost small enough to be insignificant. More power to them for trying.....I'm sure it's fun when a guy has several hours a week to shoot. Wish that were me However, there is nothing to prove here for a hunter. Nothing at all.
Any of us that bench these guns as hunting weapons have done our work to get the job done in the fall.
Have never once been let down.
At the end of sniper training, a guy who has passed all the rigorous tests, not just shooting, has 2 shots to make a hit on a target....way out there. A first shot and then a quick "correction" shot under pressure. (Duh) If he can't do it he's done. That's the extreme of a "hunter/killer" mentality. The guy who aced everything but misses that shot goes back to his unit. Unfair? Maybe or maybe not. The 1st shot for a ML hunter is the one that makes for success stories at camp, for himself and for years to come....year after year, deer after deer. Not many "correction" shots available. Track records like that are more rewarding for the masses then the one time 1" 5 or 10 shot group at 100 yds.
But nothing says you can't try. Also nothing says you've failed if you didn't post a MOA 5 or 10 shot group either.
Nothing but great things to say about "Ug" What a great potential you have there. Keep it up. Don't think things are all buggered up if you can only hold a 1 1/2" average group at 100 yds. Unless you are in a benchrest contest with rifles.
