It then gives you more reason to NOT blame the gun (when you miss ) but rather the trigger puller
Rich,
I reserve the right to blame my equipment, wind, wife, temp. etc... ;D

Bigmoose. Well put since I only shoot paper. I lean towards Richards thinking. I also realize that one shot is what matters when hunting. I don't really understand the problem. We are talking apples and oranges. Lets be real yes 3 shots prove more than one. 5 proves more than three as far as repeatability. But where does it stop does it take 100 shots? bottom line for a hunter with a 1 shot gun only one shot counts anything over that is a confidence builder which I feel is very important for a hunter. dont have a dog in this fight, just a "pig" that belongs to a guy that has made a good home for it.
two shot groups, ten shot groups, it dont matter a bit to mr deer but the more in a single hole sure makes the shooter and the guy that put it together need to go buy a bigger hat.
I am a die hard hunter and anyone that knows me will testify to that fact, when the moment of truth arrives one shot counts with a front stuffer but on the other hand when one settles behind a rifle on the bench there is something to be said for consistent repeatable accuracy, both for the shooter and the gun. I enjoy both games but dont get to do enough of either.
some day I will post a ten shot group, it will probably look like it has been shot with buckshot but hey what can one expect from a half blind hillbilly?
my point? it dont matter guys, eat, get fat, be happy ;D ;D

As a matter of fact Tar, I did preface my post by saying that the first shot is the one that counts I guess what I am doing is just encouraging people to shoot more to see what their guns can produce in a competitive environment? And, I totally understand that 95% of the people who visit this forum are ONLY hunters looking to collect venison. Yes, I do have the time to play these games but I am sure I am not alone. So, I am sure that with your pet load you will shoot as many deer as anyone on this forum will and I will continue to shoot multiple five shot combinations; this being done with many different powders with various bullets to satisfy my curiosity. I hope it will wet the appetite of others who are curious and willing to challenge themselves and their rifles with five shot target groups? Richard
