I see a few on here have SMI barrels for their H&R frames but I have not seen or heard of any of their barrels on an Encore frame. From the email response SMI sent me the Encore barrels are about $100 more then their barrels for the H&R's. I have two H&R frames but the triggers on my Pro Hunters are 10X better, after trigger jobs.
If anyone has one especially in a .45 can you throw me some feedback? From the email I received there was not much info included as to breech plug design, twists, barrel finish or if they need the frame for fitting.

I have 2 H&R non-smokers, one an SMI and one not. Both triggers are clean and crisp right at 3#, one after a trigger job by H&R and the other came right. They offer different breech plugs, either just drilled through like a BP plug, tapped to accept savage vent liners or with a carbide plug (mine has the carbide). They can do any twist you want but it may take more time if they don't have it in stock. My .50 is a 1:22 versus their normal stock of 1:36. Barrel finish is a black matte. Not sure what it is. They needed my H&R frame but chances are they won't need your TC if they have one in house to set head spacing with. You're really better off calling them at the shop number. In my experience they rarely check email and when they respond it's with limited info. Call Dan at the shop and be prepared to have a long conversation

I have a Encore prohunter 45/70 barrel that has been converted by SMI and it is a really good shooter

I have a standard blue 45-70 TC Encore barrel that SMI converted. Breechplug takes ventliners. Recrowned for MLing. Like PPosey, it's a shooter too. 10 ga
