Just received a new one RW and had mixed emotions. The finish on the bbl. is unlike anything I've seen before. It looks like it was finished with a Scotch-brite wheel or hammer-forged without polishing before blueing. Also the trigger guard is made of plastic, not steel and the trigger adjustment mechanism (springs, etc) can only be made to make the pull heavier. It seems as though they have cheapened almost every part of this gun. I have a stainless one I bought about 7-8?? years ago and it is a much better gun. If I had had the opportunity to hands-on look at this before, I might not have bought it. Overall I think I'm glad I did, but am very disappointed in the lowering of quality in manufacturing and materials. I haven't shot it yet, so maybe I'll be happier then. Has anyone else had this kind of experience?

Mannnnn that sucks I was waiting to see if there were any issues with the last run guns. There was also someone with ALOT of chatter marks inside of the barrel, quite a few told him to shoot it and see how it does before he polishes it. Haven't heard from him I hope he's ok. I just happened to run across a stainless ml2 in the local pawnshop I'm REAL glad I got it before they are hard to come by. No way to get a return on your money? Did you use VISA,lol? Bummer, Greenhorn

That would be me. Still waiting for 4759. Should be here in a few days. According to the serial# mine was made a few years ago. It has the plastic trigger guard.

That's interesting what did savage do find a box full of mls and put them out as the last run? I've never seen a Blue model other than my ml1,so probably they all had plastic trigger guards. Cadillac let us know how it shoots most of the veterans here think you'll be fine. Thanks, Greenhorn

Every Savage That at has come thru my shop has CHATTER marks Some shoot and some don't As good as Savage's rifles are (CF) the barrels on their ML's definitely eat Do-Do when it comes to interior finish. I have seen some Remington CF barrels that are poor, but not as bad as Savage ML barrels. They would be better off charging an additional $50 and doing the barrels right! Richard
