This is one of the first 50 Melvin built and after a thorough inspection im very impressed with the quality and how well its been cared for after all these years. I went with another RedField Revolution 2x7x33 that have served me well on my 54cal carbine. Just shy of 7lbs ready to hunt. The primer extractor is kinda cool too IMO. I got a steal IMO and it appears it will serve my deer hunting needs very well out to 200 yards.

They really are alot lighter than the Savages. I am sure that helps in the field. Those that have the NULAs also do not complain about recoil either, I thought with the light weight that could have been an issue. You did well, I saw what it was listed for on that other site.

Looks great. I was just wondering for people that do a lot of carrying lighter and shorter is better. I was going through some not made any more guns and saw a bulpug 50cal. ml. It was more than I could afford but was interesting. Has any one even thought of this or is it not practical? I'm sorry this a little of the post but it brought it to my mind sorry for hijacking. From what I've heard Nula's are a great gun wish you the best with it. Looking for ward's to seeing some great reports. Jon

I plan on keeping the loads within the lower end but ive also heard the recoil isnt as bad as it would appear. This one seems like it shoots really well with about 38gr-44gr of N110 with a fair selection of bullets. I like shooting the cheaper 225gr FTX for fun so the slower twist might work out. It shoots the Barnes 225gr XPB better than i can and that load is good enough for the ranges i hunt.

I shot your gun a few times. It shot really well with the 250grn Bonded shockwaves in a harvester sabot. I believe 42grns by weight of N110. My Nula has the same stock as yours, i really like that color.

Thanks Grouse I went through all the archives and got as much of his reload data as possible. I will be happy with just a cheap target load and a couple of hunting loads. I would really like to get the 225gr FTX shooting well with 38-40gr just because it is a fairly cheap bullet to shoot and that enough powder for just having fun out to 200 yards. This year reducing my shooting cost was at the top of my list. Just the powder savings vs BH209 will be substantial. Sell a Knight or two and i should be on my way. IIRC he liked shooting the Barnes 225gr XPB, the bonded Shockwave and the 275gr BE. I think most of his load data was with N110 and 4759. Mostly softer shooting (40-42gr) loads but the accuracy was really good. I called Melvin today and he gave me some good advice/info. I thought it was pretty cool getting him in one ring and BAM, i was talking to Melvin Forbes.

I am shooting 45 grains of 4759, with the 225 Barnes pistol bullet, Harvestor sabot, and CCI 209m primer. I couldn't get the rifle to shoot lower charges of powder. I started at 38 grains of VVN-110 and 4759 and worked up. It didn't like MMP sabots either. But the preferred load put 5 shots in an inch at 100 yards, so I just zeroed it an inch high and left it alone.

Very nice looking gun! Sounds like a really good setup as well, 99% of my guns wear a lower powered variable scope,, cant beat them for hunting

Thanks, ive had good luck with my first RedField Revolution and i hammered it hard. I use a 2x7 on most of mine unless it spends most of its time at the longer ranges. I just got a 3x9 Omega with the BDC too at a bargain price. It may go on my Original Disc 45 but im not sure how well 5" of relief is going to work out on any of my current guns.
This one is mainly a hunter and for me a 2x7 is fine. I really like the little bit of extra eye relief on the Redfield. Eventually i will probably get a Leupold ultra light for it once im more comfortable shooting it and know what to expect in terms of recoil.
I wish there was a better selection of bases and QR rings for it. Then i could switch out more easily to one of my "varmint" scopes just for range fun loads. Chuck really shot some nice 175yard groups with this one. Im dying to get to a range. They closed the close range and now its a 40min drive just to take a few shots at the crowded MDC range. Turkey season prevents me from spending the weekend at the property atm. I dont like to shoot there when i know guys at out there well camouflaged within its lethal range and the other guys are not too keen on it either.
After closer examination the NULA does appear to have 2 lugs at the rear of the bolt. Its still similar to a 22 action but it has another small lug opposite the bolt handle which acts as a lug too. This is a ealry mode so im not sure if they are all the same. I may sell one of my motorcyles this week and if i do i may try to get another in 45cal but with a custom 1-24 twist and slightly heavier contour near the action. It wont be as light but it should be close enough to my Elite 45.
BTW sending you a pm about the items. I will take them.

Here's my NULA.... My go to load is 42 grains of 4759, 250 Bonded Shockwave, mmp short black sabot, CCI primer. The gun outshoots nearly all of my centerfire rifles.
