I tried to post test and pictures but I messed up. The top hole was shot with Richards load 55grs of N110, great penetration 7 1/4 inches, I may have blown the sabot, couldn't find it or veggie wad, Bottom bore size hole 52grs of N110, 5 1/2 inches of penetration [very good] I recovered the sabot [no petels and the wad. The dents to the left made by sabots hitting the block, shot at 10 feet. I will try again to post pictures.

This the 55gr. bullet zero loss of weight Mild recoil, IMHO it will take any game, that a 180gr 06 will

52grs of N110 broke apart but no weight loss Would be an excellent round for large game, say 600 to 800 lbs Very mild recoil

For SHAME on all you folks making fun of an old old man, If I could find my teeth and walker, I'd really get mad. Some day if your lucky you may get to be 77, and broken down, and young wippersnappers will be making fun of you. Got to go now, time for my hot milk and pills. Tomorrow when I'm working on the heavy bag I''ll be thinking of you mean guys [SMILE][

Marty,
Sabot was recovered after hitting the wood pulp or was it in the medium?

It hit the front of the block [bound magazine] I didn't think I needed wood for this test. I am surprised and pleased at the penetraion, It a very good round. But folks like Ricard already know that.

I read an account by an old time buffalo hunter who proclaimed a 40 cal Sharps was the Boss gun. Seems the long 40 cal lead bullets it fired would completely penetrate a buffalo and killed very quickly.

Dans,
If you are interested in Penetration, try the Barnes 400gr Buster bullet, at 2147FPS, it just might be an ain't-tank round [SMILE}
