:)guys these barrels will be pacnor barrels for your encore. The standard barrel will be a 22 twist, ss, 11 degree crown, bullberry hanger system, black composite forend(free floated) ,brechplug, ez extractor, and a foldup rod. You choose what contour and barrel length you desire and if you want fluted( extra charge). The cost of the barrel is $710 delivered. If your interested call bullberry at 435-635-9866 and talk to jean and just say you want a dd 209x45 and she will know exactly what you want. The only thing you will need to do is install a ventliner in the plug. I know this took long guys I'm sorry but there is now another alternative to smi for a custom encore barrel with a pacnor blank.

:)your welcome guys I love to help. Bill I don't have one but I did build a identical barrel the hard way and it was a tack driver most accurate consistent muzzy I built. Ryan on this forum has it now maybe he will chime in. Al it will have a standard encore bp.

Great job Dave D, I have the original DD 209x45. It is by far the most accurate gun that I own. It will shoot one hole groups at 100 with no problem at all. I am using 57gr of 4198 smooth blue sabot and 195bx. It is shooting 2625fps. Have shot it out to 300 yards and as I write this it just makes me smile. I shot two different deer with it this year and both had holes coming out that were the size of baseballs. If you are on the fence don't call me because I will have you buying one by the time you hang up!!!!. Call or email any questions and I will try to help.

I will be honest, this seems like a lot of money, but like my Dad told me when I was young... "it only costs a little more to go first class!" I never knew what that meant until I start messing around with custom guns!!!! I would like to see some pics of these outfits and I have a few questions... some of these might be for Bullberry, but maybe some of you guys already know.
1.) Can you get a thimble to hold a regular ramrod? 2.) Do you have to get the black forearm? I would like to send them a forearm that I want to use (custom wood) 3.) How long are most of you guys going? 28" seems long.. 25- 26" would seem manageable. 4.) Do I have to do anything to my frame to use their hanger system?
Thanks guys, looking forward to seeing those pics! Jeff (somedaysmokeless)

I dont know about the thimble. But I dont think so, the forearm would have to be modified to accept the rod. And it might get in the way of the hanger system. You might be able to send in your own wood. But no you dont have to get the black one they have all kind's of optional stock's Mine is 25 " barrel length After I get mine up and shooting I intend to get a full custom stock set from them No frame mods for the hanger system Good Luck Drop

Your forearm may need some work for the hanger bar to fit.

I was just looking at my Encore barrel, and it looks to me like the "studs" they use would act the same as a hanger bar in keeping the forearm off of the barrel.

I have a 26 inch SMI converted barrel on an Encore and it is 1/4th inch shorter overall than a 21 inch barrel on a savage ml2,,, so barrel length can be alot longer than a ml2 and still be manageable,,, a Encore with a 29 inch barrel would be 1/4th inch shorter than a factory ml2 with a 24 inch barrel,,,

.45 cal, 1-22 twist, 1in contor, 28in, I am calling bullberry and getting one of these on the way to my house in the morning. Its a big chunk of cash but I know 20years from now I will still be looking at a big buck at 200yds and pulling the hammer back and smiling. If it works like all the other PNs It will be a deer gun for lifetime !!

Ok I just reread your post again... Why 28 inches? I went with 25" since the T/C plug is a littler shorter it will shoot more like my 26 Savage. I also have the straight 1' barrel.... you worried about muzzle heavy? My son is 6'1" and weighs in at 290...and says his Savage with the .45 pacnor pull's his arms off when tugging it up the tree lol.... I just rest mine on the window ledge.... . I am sure youre gonna love it though.

I have the savage PN with 25" barrel and would prefer just a touch longer ie 26. I think it balances real well for me at 25 and 26 wouldnt be bad. The weight does help with recoil as shooting the smokeless encore with a lighter barrel does kick noticeably harder than the savpac. Perception of too much gun weight is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I am 6' 5" and prefer a little heavier gun. Jesse is just a tall and bigger than me so I think he will be good with the 28". And again if not it can always go shorter.
