I like the SR4759, depending on the order and mine is an eight pounder i use 42 grs. with mmp hph24 with a cci shot shell primer, the mags work too but i feel it needs to be below 10f. the powder works well in many temps. you may not get the faste fps but it will be consistant and acurate.

gjs4, Sorry been hunting and had not checked in I use a #36 o-ring 5/16 OD & 3/16 ID x1/16 # 96750 by Danco. Bought them at Lowe's I put them on ahead of time and leave them on all season so that anytime I have a primer in, it has a o-ring on it.

Is everyone getting away from the 10/60 V110/H4198 Duplex and V120 loads ? I've shot 100's of shots with these two loads without a misfire. Never shot them below about 22 to 24 degrees,, doesnt get that cold in south Mississippi. Took several 8 pts with these loads and a 300 grn B.O. and they never took another step.

pposey, I don't use a crono or any thing like that What I use most have already passed by or don't like. I'm using 44 gr of 5744 with a Winchester tripple seven 209 primer 250 gr with a harvester black sabbot. For a scope I have a NcStar with the lighted range finder reticle. ( cheap yes but it works for me ) Before I used the oring there was several times the powder would not fire, when I brought the gun home I reseated the bullet and tried several other primers which would not fire the powder either, it was that wet. Before I tried the oring in the field I put a load in and used the oring over the primer and then ran it under the faucet for several minutes all around the bolt, side holes and such, after that I took it outside ( it's not nearly as loud when it goes off outside instead of in the basement ) and it fired just fine. This is my second hunting season with this setup and all I carry is my savage, with no problem since. I was also having an alignment problem with the primer into the breech when closing the bolt and that is no longer an issue. My maximum range is 200 yds. and all performs well with that. I really admire all the testing and research done here on this board and it has given me many ideas.Hope that helps

I hunted Kansas last year and only was able to take a coyote and temps were in the high teens. I did however clear my barrel two days just to see if it would shoot if it had to. One day was -7 deg and the other was an even 0! And this was after being taken in the basement overnight each and every day. Basement was not really heated but was about 50 deg warmer than the outside temp. Oh yeah my combo was CCI primers with 43 gr 4759 with a BO and BCR. So far have never had a misfire regardless of temp or rain.
