Monday is the day I wait for all year!!! The kids have Christmas and I have the opening day of rifle season,,,, ML season is so early here that it's hot, bugs are everywhere, and all the leaves are still on so it makes stalking/stillhunting hard. In the 30's every morning now, leaves are gone, bugs are gone, have 2 places I have to decide between,,, both are an hours climb in and up,,,, both have lots of deer sign and I have seen bucks in both places within the last couple weeks,,,,, 7mm-08 is on and ready, hunting pack is well,,, packed.... I managed to get Monday and Tuesday off,,,,,,,bet I wont be able to sleep Sunday night ;D

Hey good luck Monday morning out in Swain county. I am also having hard time deciding which stand to go to. You should not have to worry about having company if you are hiking for an hour. Both of my stands may be 10 minutes out, maybe 15 at most.
Here in the Murphy area I am seeing a lot of chasing. Had a heavy 8pt cross road in front of me today @ 10:45. Just started seeing bucks in the last couple of days. Brother saw 2 small bucks chasing this morning.
Got back from Kentucky first of week. Did not see many deer up there this year. Managed to harvest a decent 8.
Keep us updated.

Small 8 I saw last week was "following" a doe,, not really chasing her but staying close it seemed,,, other location is better for opening day though,, nice set of gaps up high between 2 ridges, as the deer start to get some pressure down low they will come up, happens every year

opening day here, verrryyyy windy, hunted hard and only saw one deer but he was a nice little 5 or 6 point 1.5 year old, would have been good eating but for some reason he stopped 5 yards from on opening and did a fast reverse,,, wind probably did me in,,, I'll try again in the morning!

Pposey, you are doing better than me. Hunted 7 hrs on Monday and saw nothing but squirrels. Hunted this morning and had a doe walking on me (10 yds) wind was in my favor and she got curious and went on. Just a small 6 pt and a spike been killed out of our hunting party. Seeing the least number of deer in the past few I can remember.
Cooling down by Friday - maybe that will put 'em in high gear.
Good luck !
