Strongly considering buying some .451" Nosler Partition Gold HG bullets. They come in 260 and 300 grain weights. Does anyone have enough experience with shooting either or both out of the 10ML-II to recommend one over the other or both. If so please list your load of choice you shot them with.
Thanks, Arthur.

Art,
Never shot them in the Savage but these were my bullet of choice for 2 seasons with my Disc rifle. Would launch them as 2000 fps and they worked great on any angle on large deer.
Should be fine in the savage too if they shoot well. I'm fairly convinced that 2400-2600 fps will do the same as 2000 fps: The nose will completely shed and then no further expansion past the partition. It's a tough a$$ bullet.

I tried the 300 grainers years ago and had trouble getting them to shoot well in my 50 cal savage, the 300 grain protected point speer shoot great though,,,, I may have some of those 300 partitions though, will sell you what I have it would be a cheaper way to try them than buying a whole box those suckers are expensive

www.wideners.com has them for under $25 a box. Thats roughly half of MSRP. They also have the 44-250 if you can get them to shoot well smokeless. They also offer the .458-300gr PP version but its about $50 a box. Ive never tried them in a Savage but a friend has shot elk with them out past 150 yards with excellent results in Knight and Remington ML rifles. BTW John Nosler just passed away at 97yrs old. Edited to correct his age

You have to give him more credit then that, he was 97! A great man of the industry. He gave control of the company to his son IIRC back in the 80s and his grandson is now like VP with more family involved also. He had a book out too that was a real good read.
One problem you may have is the extra thick jacket does not let the bullet obturate well so sometimes accuracy suffers. You run into this with the Partitions and the Swift A-frames. A bit overkill for whitetail but for elk, moose, grizzly and the occasional T-rex a bullet to think about.

If you want any of the Partition HGs or the .458 300gr you better buy now because last I heard they will not be made anymore. I think it is a mistake, a lot of handgunners and 45-70 guys are whining and Nosler hasn't said anything about bringing them back.

I know the Partition HGs for handguns are discontinued but i hadn't heard that any of the rifle calibers were also.
I bought enough to last me a life time when i saw the sale price and heard when they are out, that's it.

Art, if you get come and they won't shoot, try knurling them out to .452. I've had great success with undersized bullets that would not shoot, but, when knurled to a larger diameter, became VERY accurate.

The .458 300gr Partition is gone but supposedly there is a .458 300gr Ballistic tip on the way which they show on the website but no one has seen one.
