Ok so forgive me for being a rookie. Pac-nor barrels, found there website, didn't see anything for muzzle loaders. Emailed them and Penny told me that they have a barrel in 45 cal called the Double D. Went to find that on the web site and couldn't find any info. Is this a match barrel? Do you send the rifle to them and they rework it? What is the price and are they worth it? Thanks

It is just a barrel and is an easy screw on mod. Lots of us here have done it and they work great. Definitely worth the price for me. Mine is a 40cal which they do not make any more because some folks had problems with them sabotless and there are no sabots for 40 cal barrels. Works fabulous for me. Price with shipping is around $400 but depending on options you might want.

The neat thing is with the PacNor it is "plug and play". Working with DaveD. they have the barrel dimensions and you can use the factory breechplug. In the past you would get a tapered blank and you would have to have a smith cut the barrel threads and then cut for the breechplug and make a breechplug. Using a "off the shelf" breechplug is the best thing since PB&J. Plus the quality from a custom barrel maker like PacNor is night and day compared to a OEM. .45s shoot maybe flatter with less recoil, a .40 with a saboted .358 or .375 bullet IMO would be the berries but not all states may let you hunt with a .45 or .40. Even a PacNor .50 is a big improvement over the factory barrel from the results Jeff had.
