Does anyone know if Sims makes a precision fit pad for the Savage 10MLII Laminate stock, or are the choices limited to the grind-to-fit and the slip on?

Billy.....
If you're dead set on a Simms Pad I can't help you... But if a Limbsaver Pad will work for you I can. I put a Limbsaver #10601 Precision Fit on my Savage Laminate and I'm satisfied. It fit up good and does the job on the recoil end. Zen

You're pretty much limited to the grind to fit or slip on unless you just get lucky with the fit or you're not real particular how it looks. Quite awhile back, I ordered the #10601 and the fit wasn't even close on my factory laminated stock. I sent it back and had a gunsmith grind one to fit. Here's a link to Limbsaver's templates. Print off the #10601 to scale, cut it out with scissors, take off your factory pad and hold it up to the butt of the stock. You'll be able to tell how it will fit then. If the template doesn't fit, then the pad won't either. www.limbsaver.com/2010/tech/templates.php

OK guys, this has come up many times before. 10601 is the pad, however it is 3/8 inch thicker than the pad that comes on the stock. If you carefully cut 3/8 of an inch off the back end of the stock it is a perfect fit
Mod. since this comes so often maybe it needs to get into the tips and hints section

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. Mike, do you really mean to cut 3/8" off the stock, or did you mean to cut it off the pad? Billy

My Laminate stock must have been different. The width fit perfectly on mine. There was a hairline difference at the toe of the stock....something you had to really look at to see. Zen

Thanks again for all the info. I downloaded the templates (10601 and 10111) and it appears the 10111 will be a perfect fit. Billy

I ordered the 10111 and it's a perfect fit on my stock. I guess all the stocks are not the same.

I guess all the stocks are not the same. I'm sure laminated stocks vary from year to year or even batch to batch that Savage receives. That's why it's always best to check the templates against the stock you have. Glad things worked out OK for you. You're going to like that Limbsaver!

The Laminate, the Thumbhole and the Synthetic are all different! Richard
