I just happened to find the Limbsaver recoil pad listed for the Savage wood stock, had to try it. The pad fit perfectly. I had the old pad off and new pad installed in about 15 minutes. The screw holes in the new pad and laminated stock were very close, so they went right in.
The pad was about 1/2 inch thicker, but that was not a problem for me.
I tried the pad out today, it is a great improvement over the hard rubber pad that came on the gun.
The pad I used is a Limbsaver #10111. $39.99 at Bass Pro.

Which stock do you have Dave? I put on a Kick-eze grind fit and you are right, it makes all the difference in the world.

My Savage 10ML-II is the stainless steel version with laminated stock.

That number may work and that is good to know. Limbsaver also lists the number 10601 for Savage wood stocks. Does one work better for the laminate stock?

I have been to the range several times since installing the Limbsaver #10111 pad on my Sav 10ML-II and am very pleased with the fit, appearance, and performance. The gun is now a pleasure to shoot.
I do not know about the other pad mentioned so cannot say if it will fit or not. I know Limbsaver has different versions, types, and styles of pads available.
