Very nice shooting there Carlos, I for one am a believer in the .40's and accuracy that they can be made to achieve. Here is a group from a couple weeks ago with a 200g. custom bullet

Carlos, now that is some fine shooting! The only thing that limits the .40 cal long range capabilities (~500 yards) at this point, is the high BC bullet selection. Once you guys figure that out, the sky's the limit. Thanks for the .40 cal info guys! There is no end to the brainstorming and experimentation on Doug's board. And that's the best part about this board! Great shooting as always Carlos. I've never shot one, but recalling my sabot days with the 45cal and SABOTS and how awesome it was to shoot deer with little recoil and the 195BX, I would own one if it was legal to use for deer hunting in IA. As far as higher BC bullets, in my opinion, it would be kind of pointless in the 40cals since I see the 40cals as more of lighter weight 300ish (maybe a little further under ideal wind conditions) yard on in deer setup. If you want high BC then go a 416 which already has a fair number of high BC bullets to choose from. That's just my take on it.... Hopefully in a little over a month, we will see how the 40 will do at 300 and 400 yards versus the 416 and the 45's. Hopefully the conditions are optimal for long range shooting that day. There may even be some 375's in the game that day as well. Either way, the 40 is my gun of choice for whitetails and I only expect to be able to take them to 300 yards with it, and normally they are less than 100. Rob and Carlos have already proven they are very accurate at 300, I hope we can live up to their trigger abilities..

Carlos, what bullets are you shooting at longer ranges 2-400 yards? Rojo, when I got this gun three years ago, the only bullets available were the 195 Barnes, and the 200 SST's. I do not believe at that time they were to many 40 cal. around, specially full from. The groups were shot suing the the SST's which shoot great, and the ones I use most of the time. As time went by, and since Omega45 had the other 40 cal. that we had ordered together, since it was all his idea. we began to look around and added the 240 CEB's, and later on the 300 TSX which takes a bit of work to size down, they shoot great. The SST's will shoot great all the way out to 400 yrds, but I really have not tested the other two that far out, but I will when I get some time.

If I remember right the calculated BC on the .40 240g CEB was around .330. On paper it carried enough energy to be a 500 yd contender. I think, been a long time since I looked at any of the original data.

Just wondering what was the length of your other pacnor barrel? Oked, I have 3 26" barrel 40 cal. and the one short which is 20". The one I shot the groups I posted was a 26" barrel.
