That's cool. I've had good luck with Pac-Nor poly barrels. I'm sure it'll shoot good.

Another great job Cole. This lil rig is short and stout, can't wait to experiment with these weird ff bullets. I'll be really interested to see how it stacks up and compares to my other 2 392/400's. It'll be fun testing for sure, I don't know of any other poly sml out there, so it'll be a maiden voyage to develop loads. I expect it to shoot very well, time will tell. Cole is getting my pile whittled down, I guess I better fuel the truck up and go get some of this stuff home and get to shooting. He's definitely built me some different stuff, that's for sure, but I like different. This gun and the Axis have me very anxious to get to the bench.

Cole, you are turning out some pretty impressive SML's!!! I am fairly new to this crazy addictive smokeless game but I know a good looking rig when I see it.

A little bit of info about this build that Bob The Builder left out. The barrel was a blank that he contoured 1.2 for 5", tapers to .900 at 7.5 and runs .900 to the end. He mounted a WCE 4-16x50 in a DNZ tactical mount that was lapped and bedded, installed the 8oz to 1.5lb Rifle Basix trigger, installed the tactical bolt knob, duracoated everything flat black for me, then did all the normal bedding, etc.. Cole sent the drop to Swinglock where a ff die was made, I think Tom may have even raised a brow when he got this drop, none the less, it has a ff die from Tom. The Pro Varmit stock was ordered with a 1/4 longer LOP. For now it is fitted with a savage style .030 bushing plug, we will see how that works out. It's definitely a different breed, even tho it doesn't look all that different. Cole did another fine job on another off the wall hair brained idea of mine, can't wait to see how it shoots compared to the other conventional twist 40's. Sorry you lost your barrel Cole, haha, I told ya, put your goodies away when I come around. 3 down, 1 to go for this round..

In my limited experience with poly rifle barrels they do shoot pretty fast and clean up well. I don't think they are any more accurate than any other rifling profile I have used. When it comes to cleaning though they usually will not grab a brush; that is to say the brush will not follow the rifling. The only way I have been able to clean them is by patching them. These days I really only patch anyhow if I have the choice.

Here's a pic of a poly ff bullet that Cole sent me. Not sure how well it will show up. Def looks different than what we are used to seeing come out of the ff die's.

The edges are not as sharp! I would guess that it would not work as well on smooth sized bullets.............allowing more "slip" vs. grabbing on the sharper edges of normal rifling? Then again...........who knows unless one tries it? Just thinking out loud Richard

You may be correct Richard, but with this particular gun we may never find out, I'm thinking it will be FF all the time, at least that's the plan. Unless I get a itchin to try smooth bullets, then I may give it a try to see what happens. But FF is the plan and goal with the swinglock die already being purchased.

Thanks I plan on starting out with the 200 SST and the 195 Barnes, I'm not sure yet if it will stabilize the 240 CEB's since it is a slower twist 1-25", but I will also try them to see if it will shoot them or not, after I have it figured out with the Hornady's and Barnes. I will likely start out with a proven duplex load of N110/Varget just to get started. Then once I have it shooting and I am comfortable with it, I will experiment with powders as fast as RL-10X all the way to powders as slow as RL-19. It is going to take some range time and experimenting to see what this poly likes and will shoot the best. I do have full intentions of pushing loads to around 3k speeds, if accuracy is there. I plan on picking up some guns from Cole next week and the testing can begin. I'll post some results as they come. If I were building my first 40 right now, I'd likely go with a conventional rifled barrel, as they are already proven shooters, this poly is a gamble and an experiment. I do expect it to shoot well, it just may take some time to get it to where I want. It's all new and I have no experience ff sizing poly bullets and or what type of bullet to barrel fit the gun will like.

I believe those are Powerbond bullets, idk how well they hold up at smokeless speeds, I've only shot them at reduced loads out of the daughters shorty 392/400, iirc it was between 2200-2300fps and they shot really well. Cole sent me a few to get things dialed in with since they are cheap. Definitely good paper punches for the daughter at least.
