Now that I am done shooting matches until January I was able to make a quick run out to the range tonight to do a seating depth test to finish up my load development in my .308 Win for 190gn Sierra Match Kings over RL17. I knew I wouldn't have a lot of shooting time so I just loaded up three each at .010", .030', and .050" from the lands and shot them at 300yds. I'll be sticking with .010" jump for .281 MOA: That load averages 2645fps with an ES of 20fps and SD of 9fps.

Looking pretty good! The 190gr or 200gr SMK was my windy day bullet at the tactical matches. In my 30-06 I would pump them out a tad hotter, around 2800fps for the 190s. It would shoot .4 all day out of a factory heavy barrel.

I just did a bang up job a week or two ago in a Tac match with that rifle but was required to shoot factory ammo. I shoot 175gn Sierra Match Kings for a living so it turned out just fine and I won the long range advance stage. I would have finished 3rd overall but I killed a hostage on day one while standing on my partner's shoulders in order to shoot over a barricade. So instead of starting out on top at that match I spent all week digging out of a hole but made a good come back with a 1st and several 5th place finishes.
