Going to use one of my Slufoot conversions for my daughters. I am going to shoot the 195 Barnes and Harvester blue. Shooting H4198 out of my other guns but I remember seeing other threads about other powders in lighter loads and loads for kids. Thanks for the help. Cory

Low dose N110 or 4759 if you have it.

Low dose N110 or 4759 if you have it. Yep, around 30grs should give you 21-2300 fps with hardly any recoil.

Low amounts of 4759 (35-38gr) should be very low recoil. Even 40gr was really mild in a heavy Pacnor build. You might be able to reduce it even more with the Barnes 40-155gr TAC-XP. They are cheaper than the 195BX if you want another copper option.

Light loads of 5744 for sure and I suspect Re-7 as well.

With those loads with light bullets has anyone seen issues with temp sensitivity and ignition inconsistency? Just asking.... TG

With my Pacnor I had no ignition issues with 55-56gr H4198 using a knurled 155 General and 155 TAC bullet in a light blue Harvester sabot.
In a 45-70 conversion I tried the knurled 155 TAC's and did not get ignition.
I believe the Pacnor fired with no ignition problems due to its tight bore.

Try 33 grs 4759 a smooth blue and a 200sst. No recoil and very accurate . No ignition issues at all.

I have used 30 & 32grns n110 and sbh Barnes 195 and the Barnes 155 tac. I knurled the 155's just a touch but they probably didn't need it. Both shoot really well.

Tg no ignition issues with the n110 in the setup I mentioned above. I used n110 when looking for an accurate low recoil load for the daughter because I was scared of running into both of the things you mentioned when getting sub50 grn loads of 4198.

I am building my 9 year old son a gun for christmas. it will be a 22" pacnor sendero in a 700ML youth stock. I am planning to try 34-38 grns of n-110 and a 195 barnes, hopefully it will be a light rig with very tolerable recoil... when it gets done I will post a pic of his big smile with his new deer stick. he gets it early so he can try it out hopefully..

Hillbill, If you need a youth stock for the 700ml build I have a black one. They do not have much of a pad on them though. PM me if you need it.

thanks hunter but Luke already fixed me up. I will be ordering a B&C lightweight stock to bed it in just in case dad wants to borrow it now and then..

Thanks again guys. I tried 30gr of IMR4759 and shot a .75" group at 95 yds with a Barnes 195 and blue harvester and kicks like a .223 or less. She is ready to go. ;D

Cory,
Both of my grandsons (9 & 11) shoot H & R conversions with 32 gr. of SR4759, 200 gr XTP and light blue Harvester. I have to knurl the bullet a bit for one of the guns but they are sub moa out to 100 yards with little recoil. They have taken three deer so far this season, the fartherest being 93 yds. Good luck.

I am curious too. Should be ok I would think. I can't be much slower than the BP shooters and that's what the bullet was designed for isn't it?
Thanks again
Cory
