for the deer that is! I am one of the lucky few it seems that have a 50 cal Savage that shoots just awesome. I have reported on that in the past. Load work-up is time and money well spent. I have 2 loads that shoot to same point of impact out to 300yd, and I have been switching back and forth after each shot to see what the outcomes are. They are 325ftx in bcr, with 70gr H4198, and the mighty BO in bcr powered by a duplex of 5/65 N110/H4198. Both are fast and flat, 2500fps and change. I started last week with the BO on a coyote at 225yd, DRT. Then, I forgot the range finder but knew approx distance, so I put the 300yd dot on the back of a big doe and hit a little lower, knocking out her shoulders and lots of collateral damage with the 325ftx, DRT. Then got a 75yd broadside shot at a doe with the BO, knocked her over with a double lung shot! The power of this gun and these loads are hard to believe. We have one week left of muzzy season, and we are finally starting to see some good deer movement. So maybe there will be another report or two before it's over. Thanks.

There's definitely nothing wrong with the fifty if you have one that shoots and can handle the recoil! Nice work!

as Luke said, nothing at all wrong with the .50 if you have a good shooter...and a good recoil pad

The Limbsaver pad was the best thing I did for my gun. $30 and about ten minutes made a big difference. Perfect fit.
