Some success in Ohio

After crappy weather to start the Ohio gun season and vehicle problems which prevented me going down to the cabin I was bummed. At least today I had some success. I went into the home hunting mode, I sit at my computer and play Ghost Recon, to get me into the "kill and eat dead burnt bodies" mode, and glance out the window to check the field to the west of the house. I thought they would be moving pretty good this afternoon now that the low pressure moved off to the east and the moon times were good. I had seen deer in the fields and a couple of guys loading one up after dropping the wife off at work.
About 4:00 3 does stroll into the field, just nibbling at the grass and bushes hugging the treeline. So I load up the 10MLII and duck out the back door which is on the opposite side of the house from the field. Soon as I poke my head around the corner they see me but at close to 200yds they just watch me for a minute and decided I was no threat and went back eating. As I used to say in pistol classes "range can be your friend". I look them over again thru the WCE and decide to go for the big one. Pretty much a head-on shot and I was just about to take it when the smallest comes over and stands in front of her for some motherly attention. After a few minutes of ear licking the big doe turns to my right and takes a couple of steps giving me almost a perfect broadside set-up. Now I'm zeroed about 3" high at 100yds and this is close to 200yds (I'll measure tomorrow) so I decide to go for a center of the boiler room shot. If it goes high it is a spine shot, goes low it will take out the heart. So I go into the zone, wait for her to drop her head to nibble and drop the hammer. They flinched/jumped a bit at the shot but they are basicly standing there. After I get the scope back on them I'm watching and couldn't believe I missed. The big doe is facing me and starts walking straight towards me and I'm trying to see if it was a hit but can't. She walks about 20yds stops and drops like a sack of potatoes. The other 2 does are just standing there looking at her like she laid down for a nap and even eating a bit walking back towards where she dropped. I could have reloaded and dropped another but I'm not too greedy at the house (I may get hungry later). I wait a few minutes, put the gun inside the house and then walk out to see the results. The other does I had to almost shoo off. The big doe was DOA and the 250gr FTX hit right where I had the crosshairs, nice entrance and a exit (250gr FTX in a MMP SB pushed out with 43gr of IMR 4759 and set off by a CCI 209M) so basically a high double lung shot. Then I remember I'm by myself with the field like a wet sponge so I'm stuck dragging it back to the barn. Anyway it is dressed and hanging and the tenderloins are ready for stir fry tomorrow night. I took a picture with my cell but forgot to hit the save button. I'll post some pics later.
Again the old poacher was right, drop the dominate doe first.
The last one I got at the house like this I shot on a cold morning dressed in my underwear, bathrobe and slippers (If any Game Warden wonders I'll swear it was a blaze orange bathrobe).
