I shot a buck with my RB .40 this morning. A 165 yard high shoulder shot. I did that because it was right at my 7 foot tall prarire grass, near the bog and then the river so I did not want to take a chance of losing it. DRT. I was thinking about using my daughter's .45 Brux but I could not pry it out of her hands.

deadeye: I use the 200 grain SSTs. I could not get the Barnes 195s to shoot quite as well and the 200s seem to be tougher than the .452 250s. SW has had good luck with them as I recall except for a shoulder blade shot. If I would have waited another year it would have been a pretty solid deer. My daughter spotted it for me and with the weather etc. I elected to shoot. I have to be reasonably selective as I am only allowed one buck per year in my county.

Nice shootin'. Congratulations. Ya know, that DRT high shoulder shot just isn't a whole lot bigger than the head shot Ozark has been talking about on the other board!
Wonder if I'll get as possessive of my Brux as your daughter has? ;D

I am a better hunter than a photographer. We all have our weaknesses. Perhaps my wife or other daughter can at least show the after effects. Tar, from the time it looks as if you are just heading out to the woods again. It took us quite awhile to clean, skin, transport etc. two deer. I admire the efforts you had this year to do nearly 30. That could almost get to be "work" after awhile but fun work with your kids. ;D
