Well last year about this time i was doing a lot of online research trying to find a muzzleloader that did not cost as much as a car and could reach out and touch a deer. Thats when i found this site, built me a smokeless ML and went to shooting. Once my neighbor seen how it would shoot he bought one off of a member here and started practicing himself. Well i went down to NC to hunt the ML season and we spent the mid day on a couple different occasions shooting at 400 yards with the windy conditions and boy were we surprised at how much the wind moved the 200g SST bullets at that range. Any way the shot never come up for us during ML season so we both decided to use the ML during rifle season and finally it happened. A big ole doe walked out and he ranged it at 400 yards dialed it up 9.5 moa gave about 6" for wind and squeezed it off. You could tell she was hit good as she run out of the field. She only went about 60 yards and barely made it out of the field. The shot entered her half way back the ribs and come out in the opposite shoulder.

Cool and congrats to your bud. Can you give some specifics about the gun and load used? Gun is a a MLll with a pac nor barrel shooting the 200g SST with light blue harvester sabot using 63.5g of 4198 is what he is useing. This used to be Richards gun. However he likes my set up better which is the Savage action using petes breach plug and the cut down brass because he is building one of these now just waiting on the barrel from pacnor
