I've been shooting ml 2 for six years killednsome at plus 200. Until recently I have not been on this site for a couple years. I've noticed a lot has went to custom sml. First why not the savage and second what should I build? I feel confident to 350 witH my savage. I have never had to shoot at a deer that far but I have sub moa groups out of mine in a bench to 350. Ihave never shot beyond that. If I were to build a custom I would want a 5 to 600 yard gun. Optics would be turreted and high end. But thatbsaid can this be done? By whom? What action, no.1, tc encore, 700, mark v,? Can those actions or action you all recommend hold the pressure whonmakes the breech plug? And I would ask what caliber. I'm gonna if I do this....put in my hands and my 10 year old hands(I'll load it) to shoot elk caribou, antelope and whitetail, so bullet diameter and compliance with bullet size must comply. This is a big bunch of questions but I am considering if it will be sub moa out to the 600 yd. Area. I do want to shoot sabots due to my boys using it for safety so bad bull is out due to that. Advice??

The only bullets out there that will shoot well to those yardages IMO are the two Parkers or the .416 450gr Rocky Mountain that Swinglock uses. It takes high BC to carry any energy to kill effectively at those ranges let alone buck the wind to any predictable POI. To shoot it saboted to the speeds needed to reach those ranges I doubt that a sabot would survive but I'm not sure. For a 10 year old to shoot such a gun one or more recoil reducers would be needed, a bullet this heavy at any reasonable speed would have extreme recoil. I am currently waiting on a barrel with muzzlebrake for a 700ML to shoot the Parkers sabotless hoping to achieve these yardages accurately, but the results need to be proven. I may also make a modified version of the Savage plug with more threads for added safety.

What Fishhawk said. I would think a brake would be necessary at least on the bench which could make you unpopular there.
