Fell to the .45 tonight. This piece of property borders some ground that was set aside ground for as long as I can remember. I was bummed at first when I saw it had been mowed off..as this was a excellent bedding area for deer. It turns out this has been a blessing as they can only approach the cornfield from 2 locations that have any cover to mask their approach...guess where my stands are? ;D ;D On to the details of the hunt...A very large doe and her button buck baby filtered out towards the edge first. I drew down on momma and let her have it high in the shoulder. She shot forwards nose down and never regained her footing. Her little one ran off aways and stopped to figure out had happened to momma..as I was watching him a lone mature Doe appeared high stepping cautiously towards the fields edge..she stopped just shy of 50 yds from me broadside...another high shoulder shot and she dropped in her tracks...the .45 is 28 for 28....now it is time for me to concentrate on hunting my Ladner Black Mouth cur pup in earnest...he is needing some fur in his mouth.. ;D ;D

And the tally grows upward. Yeah I would agree it’s time for some variety with the 4-legged members getting in on the action. Don’t want to let them feel left out. Ed

You continue to reinforce my opinion that those Indiana deer must be sissies with so many bang flops going on. ;D Nice job!

Chris: Maybe it is because they are interbreeding with those NW Ohio deer. ;D That will get the Hoosiers and Buckeyes in an uproar. I must give credit where due, Purdue got us this year in football.
