Obviously always dangerous coming from me ;D This board, while an extension of the old board is very new. Many of the folks visiting here know very little about how we got where we are now and the tremendous knowledge base from those that blazed the trail! Yes, I know that we have the Tips and the Archives, but I bet not many actually read them In the past we have had 1shot1kill explain how he and his Dad invented the Smokeless ML and took it to market. We had rifleman share many rifle and shooting concepts. rbinar bringing us to ALL of the slower powders that many of us use, including his duplex powder concepts and Pressure Traces. There is also folks among us like Richard who can give information on long range shooting. If your name was not mentioned I did not mean to slight you! I just gave a few examples of those whose shoulders we stand on at this time Everyone that posted on the old board brought us to where we are today I am not asking those that have contributed in the past to reinvent the wheel, but if you have something on the old board I think that if you were to go over there and copy it and post it here as a new thread here it will help new shooters, and ad a continuity to this board. IMO, there is a lot of info that should be brought up and I would prefer to not copy and paste it under the "edge" banner since it is not mine. Many if not most do not know of your contributions to Doug's, don't be shy edge.

I wholeheartedly agree withyou edge except I hate to see the task be placed on the original pioneers. I suggest that you appoint Wilmsmeyer, and KerryB to research to old board and select items that would benefit us all. I think these two would make the appropriate selections because they are both right up there knowledgablewise. You could probably select a third or fourth committee member. I am much to new and don't have the knowledge to serve in ithat capacity. SW might have time to serve. He is certainly a pioneeer here. OZark.

I think Ozark is right. Original posters may be reluctant to be seen as "bragging" and/or just not want to take the time to hunt stuff. Wilms and KerryB are good choices for a dirty job.

Sitting here patiently waiting for mental overload.... On a serious note I think it's a great idea! The amount of knowledge that I've gained here is immense.

Ozark!!!
You ole' coot!!! How dare you assign me to all this stuff. I have a full time job during the day and before it gets dark, I have to kill all the starlings and crows in my back yard. After that, I gotta watch Ted Nugent and 2 and 1/2 men. Then rub my girlfriends feet. DANG IT!
I can barely find the time to get your old gun shootin'. But I am. I think Whyohe ought to be stepping up.
;D ;D ;D ;D

Although I was a member of the old board (I had not posted a half dozen times) I did absorb an awful lot of information posted by the "senior" members.
I think the idea of a committee to bring forward that knowledge is an excellent one!
There is too much there to sort out by yourself if you are new to the board.

Whyone is another good one to consider. Why you? First of all you have what I consider a wonderful girlfriend that would be a great help and while doing this task would become a valuable, Knowledgable helpmate for the entire board. When you become my mentor and idol you will be considered for promotion until you reach a position that you can't handle. That for you is way out in the future. Ozark

I just finished watching Uncle Ted and then logged on here to find none other than Ozark trying to find me a new job! And i was just starting to like that old skunk! ;D I was enjoying a little break after getting the load database up and running, but here we go again! ;D I would be willing to try to think of some of the most helpful threads from the old board, but you know a lot of those were added to the tips and hints as members noticed how valuable certain threads were. Lets all give it some thought and i'll agree to do some of the searching on the old board. I do think it would be great to drag some of the old information over here for new members who wouldn't know to search the old board! KerryB

i dont mind doing some research BUT there are 286 pages of posts on the old savage board alone with over 7000 posts!! thats alot even if we all took some. there is alot with the newer custom .45 and .40s out there. if we are afraid of it looking like some one is bragging then they cam PM me and ill post it on the new board as a new thread or we can review for on tips and hint. my fear too is that it will be a new thread for a week or two but then get shuffeled back and it will get asked again several months again down the road. i dont mind answering a question several times. this board grows fast in its members and alittle refresher never hurt any one.
what key thing do you want me to look for and i will.

OK, this seems to be a lead balloon I was not trying to make a chore for anyone, just having helpful threads from the past brought out by those that originally posted them, just kind of a re-introduction, probably an idea best left in the back of my mind edge.

It is the nature of the beast to have questions asked over and over again as more and more people decide to go smokeless. This will never end.I personally think someone needs to grab a hold of the reins here and meticulously go through all pertinent info and weed out the chaff for a no nonsense guide.I realize that is a large task, but not undo able.Since all info is for the betterment of the board. The moderator(s) or a Admin. should have total control over this operation.

I am with you Edge on this. It is a pain to go to the old board then come back.Frankly, there is a lot of good info. there, but there is also a lot of...errrr... chaff that should be tossed. This transfer of info. would not happen over night but really needs to happen. It is a virtual treasure trove of info. that adrresses a lot of newbie questions.
