EDIT 7/29/14 This was post I made 3 years ago when I made the original announcement about the start of ASG LLC. Can't believe we're coming up on 3 years. Has been a lot bigger undertaking and a lot more fun than I originally expected. Made a lot of friends and exchanged a lot of hunting stories. Hopefully, the next 3 years are just as good. All, I would like to announce the starting of my smokeless muzzleloading sporting goods store—Arrowhead Sporting Goods LLC. The flagship product will be in-stock 45cal Pac-Nor DD barrels. (Before anyone asks, I have talked to Dave.D. about this, and he has given me his blessing. Thanks Dave!) My goal is to provide a one-stop shop for high performance smokeless muzzle loading. As a budget conscious hunter myself, I am going to strive to provide prices that are at or below other retailers' prices. The barrels I will stock will be 45cal 22twist, 25” SS standard match. I will be stocking for the Remington 700ML, Savage small shank, and Savage large shank. Pricing will be the same as if ordered direct from Pac-Nor, $415 +S&H. Unfortunately, the order didn’t go out until today, so it’s going to be ~14 weeks before I have any inventory. In addition to the barrels, I intend to stock all the other items that go along with the conversions (recoil lugs, Hunter’s bolt nose kit, Farrel mounts, etc.). I also plan on stocking SST’s, XTP’s, BX’s, Harvester sabots, and other related products. Needless to say, I have a lot of work to do. Realistically, it will probably be 4-6 weeks before I have enough inventory available to start selling merchandise. I am looking forward to doing business with all of you! Thanks! Luke Horak Arrowhead Sporting Goods LLC

Congratulations Luke! I think this should be a hit with members provided pricing stays competitive. Good luck with your venture Richard

Richard,
Thanks. Don't see much point in starting if my pricing isn't at least as good as everyone else, so I definitely will be striving for that.
Gunny, No plans for a website yet, but I do plan on maintaining an electronic inventory that should be accessible for everyone. (Probably through google docs.)
I intend to get setup for CC's, but will probably have to pass some of that cost on through (~3-4%) on CC purchases.

trouthunterdj, Outside of Cedar Rapids. If you line up a good pheasant hunt for me and my brother, I can probably be talked into delivering to NW IA. (Pheasants are pretty thin around here.) greenhorn, Drops will definitely be available. I'm going to work on getting more of the basics lined up to start with, but we'll see where it goes. Want to keep my inventory manageable, so I can provide timely/quality service.

lwh723 - I wish I could. Pheasant numbers aren't looking any better over here after the last two winters. $7 corn is making all the good cover a thing of the past as well. If I head your way, I will stop at the shop. If you come this way at least we could carry our guns and run the dogs. ddj

I would think that having an inventory on hand....and eliminating the long order lead times.....you may not have to be lower then current retail. Many guys would pay a little extra to give someone a card number and have a barrel by this weekend.
Will Pac-nor let you have an inventory on consignment....so that you don't get caught with a sizable inventory for some unforeseen reason?
A nice idea you have here. Be sure to conduct any business here with PM's or on the buy sell forum. Being a "store" there is no doubt about what you'll be doing. I encourage all the members to keep this in mind when lwh723 gets up and running.
Wishing you the best of luck

Range, That is my intent. I'm planning on making all common (45 & 50) mz bullets and sabots available in any quantity. Zip lock bags and $5 flat rate boxes should make it pretty economical. GMB, I guess you are! I hope you have as much fun with it as I did! -Luke P.S. In order to make sure I keep my day job. My hours are probably going to be after 6PM CST on weekdays and any time on the weekend. Once I get things setup, I plan on getting my wife (Anna) tied in, so she can handle non-technical orders during the day.

This is some of the best news ever for the smokeless shooter. I know I will be ordering bullets and sabots when you are up and running. Sure saves a lot of hassle.

Update... Things are coming together quite a bit faster than I expected. I'm cutting my estimated start date from 6 weeks to 4 weeks, and I will have a website. Domain name is YTBD. Sadly, that's 4 weeks to bullets & sabots on hand, still 13 weeks for Pac-Nor barrels.

YES, Luke is great to deal with...top notch. He is local to me and just a couple minutes from one of my son's residence (when I don't make the wrong turn ). But I don't go there often. I buy too many expensive things!

Its been a pleasure dealing with you Luke. Hope business continues to be profitable for you. While I don't directly buy a lot from you, I direct all the people I build for, to call you for the materials. BTW, Soter should be finally seeing his rifle tomorrow according to FedEx. He sounds excited! Richard
