I am needing a new rain coat for hunting. Just curious as to what you all suggest. Hopefully it will last longer than my last few. I am kinda hard on them.

Lunchbox, what is your price range? You can spend as little as $100 or as much as $300 to almost $400 on rain gear.
How often are you going to use it? Rain gear used on deer hunts, especially stand hunting need not be as well made as rain gear your taking on a expencive hunt out west or to Alaska.
I have used the same set of Cabelas Gore-Tex for over 15 years and it is still keeping me dry. BUUUUUUUT, I must state a few reasions I feel it has lasted so long.
Prior to the Gore-Tex rain gear I know have I had a differnt type also Cabelas Gore-Tex and after only 3-4 seasons it leaked. Sent it back to Cabelas and they sent me what I have today.
Called Gore-Tex and talked to them. According to Gore-tex the three biggest causes of Gore-Tex leaking are:
#1-The Gore-Tex membrain becoming cloged with ground in dirt, so keep Gore-Tex clean
#2-Washing Gore-Tex improperly. You should only ever hand wash Gore-Tex, and line dry it, machine washing causes the sealing of the seams to fail and leak. Never dry your Gore-tex in a gas/electric dryer.
#3-Companies for what ever reason improperly sealing the seams in the Gore-Tex fabric.
I only use my Gore-tex for hunting never any other time, so it does not see alot of use, and once I get it dirty or wet I take great care in cleaning it, dring it, and storing it. I store it in a sealed rubber made container large enough so I only fold it in any direction once.
I am out of date with the latest in rain gear. I strongly suggest you go to the website Monster Mullies .com and post your question. MM is a awesome website for hunting out west info and there is always some one there asking about rain gear. Hally Hanson makes rain gear called "Imperatec" (sp?) that is has a good rep, but that is old info and things might have changed, but you can get a set of HH Imperatec(SP?) for under IIRC $200.
Arthur.

Thanks Arthur I did not know that about the dirt being in the gor tex. I am not opposed to spending good money on something that will last me a long time. Mostly I will be stand hunting deer and maybe some spot and stalk but not much. I also would like it for a hunting trip if I ever go on any more of them. Thanks for the info tho. Ill try MM and see what they say
