I just purchased a new lead sled DFT and only after 15 rounds with my MLII and maybe 30 rounds with my 223 the material on the back craddle is tearing. I checked to see if my sling swivels are to blame but I don't think they are even close to the problem area. I know a bunch fo you guys use these and want to know if this is common and if so how do I modify the back craddle so my stock isn't rubbing on bare metal.

Mine did the same thing just using sub guns and i was careful to make sure the buttstock was properly placed.

My origional Lead Sled tore where the bottom of the rifles recoil pad rests. Duct tape solved the problem! ;D

Mine did the same thing also. Rather than crying aout it, I removed the cover and hand sewed a piece of leather over it. Some 2,000 shots later? ?? It is just as good! It is not hard to do. You could maybe "contact cement" a piece of leather onto it? Richard

Mine was already torn when I took it out of the box brand new. Too much trouble to send it back so I'm living with it until it gets even worse, then I guess I'll try Richard's leather patch.

OMG,wheres the Quality Control . It's an 8 year old kid in China working an 18 hour shift for 1/2 a bowl of rice each day. That's your quality control.

Hey, for the price? It's not that bad! You just had to know that plastic would get torn up with the recoil these guns generate ;D Richard

Whats the better alternative.....?? if any ...they have at least 80% or more of the market IMO from marketing and availability. HMMMMM.......they go for around $89 to 150 I guess, irrevelent , and is just a basic frame to add to Like Richard did to his .$200 for the ACCUSLED would be cheap ...!!!

My answer to the crappy Leadsled quality is just get a good front pedestal rest and a quality leather rear bag. They'll last longer than your guns will. Problem solved!!

Been real happy with this product (Shooters Ridge 40805 Zero Kick Rifle Rest). Search around you will find the price varies quite a bit. Don't use it much anymore since I went to the 45, but I don't recall having any issues after at least 200 plus rounds. Oh ya. Someone on this board recommended it several years ago.

Ive already got a nice Made in USA leather front rest replacement and plan on having a friend that works with leather to make me a new rear cover too.

Nic58..............Not the right answer Sure, I have a great Bald Eagle Precision front rest with two windage adjustable tops for both 2 1/4" and 3" benchrest stocks and also a top for normal hunting type stocks, PLUS an Edgewood Gator rear bag! The only problem with these, is that they will not reduce recoil That is more the object of the lead sled. When you are shooting some 35 shots from the bench, the other set up gets OLD real quick unless you wear a PAST recoil pad which is a PITA. Richard

I like my 'zero kick sled' Just keep the screws holding that rear strap tight. If you lose one the company will send replacements. I used a piece of rope until the replacement parts arrived. No charge on the replacements.
