You should be fine with porting. It's shooting through brakes which can be problematic (or destructive).

thanks. its not as bad as it looks but I think porting might help both the rise and felt recoil

One more comment on porting...I have a 41 Magnum that is ported...it does do an amazing job of reducing muzzle rise and somewhat recoil, but I made the mistake of shooting it while hunting once without ear protection. I swear it was twice as loud as a similar unported gun. If you have no intention of hunting without hearing protection go for it....but if you do....your hearing will be damaged in short order...
