Opinions on buying a refurbished scope? It's alot cheaper but do you still get the warranty of a new one? Anyone bought one from Natchez how was the expirence?

As long as you get a like new warranty it shouldn't matter. Watch though, sometimes you only get a 90 day on some Nikons.
Usually what you have is demos or "open box" which may have handling marks. These they will give you full warranty and knock 10-15% off the price.
Then you have refurbished where the scope was repaired but ether exchanged or a refund given. These will get a 90 day warranty and about 20-40% knocked off the price.
Make sure you clarify with the seller on the warranty and maybe even get it in writing or at least noted on your receipt.

Natchez has these listed as Refurbished and if you beleive their price listing they are marked down almost 50%. However these are also on a spring closeout special, I guess they only way to know is to call them and ask. Thanks.

Sent off an E-mail to Natchez asking about the warranty and got a response back of 90 days. Not worth it then in my opinion.

I always wondered how many bad scopes they made of a particular model so that things came to the point that it was cost effective to refurbish them and resale them. I avoid refurbished optics because if it failed once, it will probably fail again.

I bought a refurbished Nikon Prostaff a couple years ago and it has been ok so far. It's been on a .243, about 500 shots. Saved about $70 at that time. It had a 90 day warranty also. I'm not sure that I'd do it again considering the warranty. I didn't do my home work and didn't find out about the warranty until after I got the scope. Zen

Thats my thoughts, If I'm going to buy somthing for $280 I had better get a good warranty and 90 days does not cut it for me. When I can buy a swift and get a lifetime warranty. Then again it is a Nikon and how often do they fail?

This is a refurbished Nikon Omega 3-9 BDC from Natchez. 90 day warranty. Zero issues and many shots fired. Midway USA had factory 2nd Leupolds on sale two weeks ago that came with a full warranty. The Ultimate Slam muzzleloader scope was $200 I believe.

Basically your saying that if its going to fail it will within the 90 day period. I might just go with it then I'm not sure. Its stil hard to swallow that if it does fail I'm out the money where as if I spend a little more and buy new its covered for life.

Basicially what I am saying is mine is clear, holds zero and tracks like it should. If you go the refurb route mount it in some solid rings and bases and start shooting.
