Richard, surely you ain't gonna send him back a used gun . What loads have you decided to start with and do you think you'll send it back to Jon before you get your own?

Tick Used or Broken In is the question? ;D I figure load testing and breaking in the 45 with these weather conditions should take about the same time for Richards 45-barrel to arrive. Ed

Thought I would try about 75 gr. of Bullseye with a 300 gr. SST sabotless to see if it hold up! (only kiddin' Jon ;D) Hillbill, I just might pour a cerrosafe mould! I'll let you know. Richard

Jon.......the bedding on your rifle is "curing" as I write this Hillbill.......So today I poured a cerrosafe cast of Jonsbarrel and, I also "slugged it" with a .451 lead bullet. Now mind you, I do not have what is called: " blade micrometer" This allows mic'ing in between the lands. The best I have is a good digital caliper, which is not the best method for obtaining precision results. They are really accurate to about .001" (thousandth) but will read to .0005". With two of my micrometers I came up with a grove dimension of .460" on all groves except that one read .4595" and another .4603". As far as the lands go, I got readings from .4515 to .452". It seems, however, that my caliper (when used to mic the groves) and mic's vary somewhat. I trust the mic's but not the caliper. Calipers are not made with the precision of a micrometer. Its also very hard to get the tip of the caliper centered in that tiny space. Richard

Richard Richard why don't you mic the reading off of the caliper once you set it in the grooves. that should give you the reading you're looking for
