As you have probably seen, a couple pretty good range reports have been posted using the McGowen 700ml barrels. I have one update to make all interested aware of: The first few DMB#1 contours made and sent out were not quite of the contour I gave them specs for. The original design was to have the 1.20" section in front of the lug to extend 3" before starting to taper. The ones that have been made to date had the 1.20" section start to taper down at 1.5". I fell this is still pretty safe even in the event of an accidental double load. The barrels still stay roughly .950" out to 5" from the lug. With a .45 bore this leaves as much or more thickness in the walls as a stock 10MLII .50 cal that is also drilled and tapped for the rear sight. These can take some serious abuse. After I came up with the original 1.20" for 3" out I noticed in measuring some Boyd's Prairie Hunter, and Featherweight thumbhole stocks that I had got for some builds, that having 1.20" at the 3" point was really pushing the limits for barrel inletting. After seeing that McGowen had missed the spec, I contacted them and all DMB#1's in the future will have the 1.20" section at 2.5" long. This will up the safety level and still easily inlet into the above Boyd's stocks....Fishhawk
