Bill, the one that shoots with myself and richard, and I bought one of the savages target rifles in 308 a few years ago and it has shot great.Bill had had richard to put a muzzle brake on his sometime back because he cannot stand much recoil. So I had richard put one on mine.Boy did that take the recoil out. John Lewis, the fellow that holds the record at 600 yds useing a 308 gave bill and I a load he uses in his rifle useing a 155 pamela match bullet.I had shot some pretty good groups with this load before richard put the brake on.He brought the rifle back for me to try this past tuesday and didn't get my match rest out but shot it at 300 yds by just adjusting my lead sled for it.It was very barrel heavy but managed to get it close to the dot,and then shoot a 5 shot group. When we checked the target I had a small cluster that measured .603 in. I wished now that I had taken a pic but didn't. I allready loaded up some more bullets to try again.May get to try them again tomorrow with my target rest.

Very Impressive, is that with a stock Savage barrel?

You wouldn't want to share that load would you??? Been shooting 43.5grs H-4895 with 168A-Max. 5 shots made a 3 shot clover leaf. But the 155's would make a good PD load. Don't ya think....

You can try 45 or 45.5 grs R-15 with the 155's but if you have a shorter barrel you may have to go up more to max load to get more fps. My barrel is 30 in and I think I was going around 2900fps.I would look but already have everything packed in the blazer for the range in the morning. Sierra gives only 44.8 grs max with the 155grs and hornady gives 47.2 grs with the 155's. If your wanting it for PD I would give the Hornady 110 gr v-maxes a try. They have shot well in my tikka and savage f/tr.
