I need to pick up a new scope for a rifle that I bought recently. I looked at a Redfield Revolution 3x9x40 at Bass Pro the other day and it appeared bright and clear. For comparison I checked a Zeiss Conquest (got one of them on another gun) and I thought the Redfield compared favorably.
I found a deal on the Sightron SII 3x9x42 for $216.00 with a $50.00 manufacturers rebate which still makes the Sightron more expensive, but only by $20 or so.
I have never used, or even looked through a Sightron scope, so what does everyone think.

I would also consider a Bushnell Elite 3200 or 4200, both Natchez and Midway are running sales on them and I consider the 4200's at least to be on par with a Leupold VX III and almost as good as a Zeiss Conquest. I have never been impressed with the Sightrons but some guys really like them. I am not at all impressed with the new Redfield line. FWIW

The new Redfields do have some decent glass from what I have seen, they just feel a bit cheap to me. How they hold up will be another question. In the past the Sightron warranty was you just took it to a dealer and got a over-the-counter replacement, now you have to send it in. Glass quality may be about the same between the two but I haven't did a side-by-side with a resolution chart. I'm still waiting on durability of the Redfield with it's Chinese guts. The SII is a very good scope for the money (in the past a SI would go for $130-150), good field of view and durability (the SIs do not hold up well on the 10ML).

I have Burris FF2 on my 10ml2, I was looking for a new scope for the BAR in 300 wm that I have recently purchased.
I am not sure how the recoil in it will be but I have a Howa 1500 in 300 wm also. I think the recoil on it is a bit less than my 10ml2 with 68gr of h4198 and a 300 gr bullet. I am trying to get off cheap (well less expensive anyways) on the scope for it.
I may take Rmans advice, I did see the Bushnell 3200 for $157.00 on the same sight as the other two. What does anyone think about the firefly reticle? It's a bit more expensive, but if it's worth it??

I have the 3200 with the firefly in it and I love it.

Ive shot quite a few max loads in my GMB54-120 using a Rem 50-385gr CLHP with my new Redfield 2x7x33 and im totally confident the "guts" are doing fine on the little 6.5lb carbine. I torture tested it on a sled and after over 100 max loads with 300gr-385gr+ bullets it still dead on.

I have 2 SIIs and they track truer(is that a word?) than any scope I have ever used, and I have used most brands, not the new redfield though. I really like the Sightron though.
