I use to cast bullets for handgun. I just looked at a Lee catalog they have 45-70 molds .457 340 and heavier. These bullets look fairly long what would you use for a sabot?

161,
I haven't had good results shooting Bullets with lube grooves in sabots, although I have never tried the TL molds, others may have. I ordered and now use one of Veral Smith's LBTs molds that he will make for you with smooth sides. the Harvester Hard cast are made with Veral Smith's , LBT molds, Veral made the molds for them.
I have successfully re cut a 45 maxi ball mold to the shape of the 250 gr XTP I had to shorten the block by .130 then made a cutter to bore out dia. and contour the nose section on the lathe. I tried this with a LEE mold and the Aluminum just gaulled up on me and almost discouraged me from re cutting an old TC mold.
