I am amazed that that load did not have the power to penetrate the Shoot N See target, they should make bullet proof vests from that material ;D

Its a .458 Edge, I now use 70grs, I'm almost to the point, of breaking thur the paper. In the summer I have to drop down or blow the sabots. Whats a crappie, some kind of Deer, no crappie, but I can walk about 30 feet out my back door, get in my 12 ft. yacht [john boat] and catch bass up to 8.8lbs [ electric scale] I fished for Bass in some of the big bass lakes, but the biggest one I caught 8.8 lbs was 50 yards from my back door. Go figure?

What do you expect, from 3 inches away. Next week I'll pull back to two feet, but I may have to fake it. Hey, did I ever tell you the time I killed a running Deer at 642 yards, with a rock. I always had a good arm. As soon as I can figure out another lie, I'll be sure to past. As long as I'm coming clean, those Moose I claimed I shot, all died of heart attacks.

Rick, When I think of Crappie, I think of small jigs and live bait and fine eating, almost as good as fresh caught shore lunch Walleye, from an ice cold Canadian lake, I'll have seconds and more, I love to feed my face. You can't eat the fish I catch on my lake, its a private lake and once a month they treat it with weed killer. We do have Algee eating carp up to 40 lbs, can't figure out a way to get algee on a hook. The carp are irritated so they can't reproduce, just eat and die. I have never seen a dead one, I guess the gators get them first. I foul hooked a Carp trolling, it fought like a Tarpon.

Nice picture. That lad sure has big hands. I am taking predizone now and it always brings out hunger. Man, would a nice meal of walleye or crappie go down smooth. Can't beat those two in my opinion. I always called crappie paper mouth and easy to release with touching.

I have tried white bread and lettuce, no go. In the canals around Ft. Lauderdale, we have Carp, that eat berries that fall off the tree's, and are catchable, with a fly made to look like a berry. but the ones we have just eat Algee, I have a flat in back of my house, they come up on it, in about 18 inches of water, they tail, like Red Fish, an roll over to suck up algree, they are a fine looking gold color Thanks for the suggestion.

Have you ever tried that load on the carp or the gators?
I bet it would do a bang up job on both.
Maybe a ram rod with a fish arrow point on it?

bigmoose, lookin good! ;D
Carp bait: Wheaties, make a paste of powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix paste and Wheaties thoroughly, form into quarter size balls. Load you hook with a ball and hang-on!
Best Carp bait I have ever used. ;D

Locally carp are considered trash fish. I have cought them on a variety of baits but mostly by accident because I have never fished for them specifically. I have enjoyed walking along the river banks (Usually sluglish slow moving water) bowfishing. With the refraction element it is necessary to aim below the fish. Depends on water depth how much. I am not sure I have ever tried eating them. My Son-In-Law is German and he tells me that in Germany it is called a Christmas fish often consumed as a Christmas meal. Here is a blessing that my Grandpa offered to a couple of friends named Bill and Joe. "Lord have mercy on Bill and Joe, give them meat thats fit to eat and let the suckers and carp go." AMEN.
