Today, I share a small portion of your National Buffalo river near where I live. My oldest daughter is in one picture.

If you have never floated this river it might be a good thing to do. Scenes like this are around every bend for miles and miles. Plus good fishing.

It was in this environment that Ozark developed his love of the great outdoors.

:)Until my wife developed cancer 5 1/2 years ago, we hiked the upper BR area often. This summer we plan to continue our BR hiking. The area is beautiful, plus the elk sightings are exciting also. The area is rugged and natural as are the locals.

Ozark
That is one beautiful spot I could visit and feel at home. I've done some travelling to different locations for the work I do and in new city locations never felt totally comfortable. But take a drive outside of the city and into surrounding wilderness/country I would always find a location that just stood out and just sit there for a while. Here I would often collect my thoughts and in a way always felt comfort like I was at home.

Ben, I can envision a all day float trip for some channel cats and small mouth!

All day tar12? Make it a three day float guided so that when you reach the days float there are steaks, fish and all the tents set up. About 2:00 PM the guide boat comes along and picks up your fish and motors ahead to prepare camp. You are worth it. Ozark

Spent many a night on a gravel bar in St. Joe....or somewhere sorta close to St. Joe. Great river.
Be careful. My son in law almost lost his life on that river. It is a Class 1 (or whatever the lowest is) to float, but it can be dangerous. Any moving water can. They didn't have on life jackets. The entire family almost died, but he was under for a long time.
Other than that, this is one beautiful river. I like the Spring, North Fork of Spring, Sylamore........and a few 'creeks' like Cadron....
Beautiful pics, Ben. Sigh.

Buckrub is correct in that it has an element of risk. The upper Buffalo is for the experienced and the middle and lower part are less challenging. The lower portion is wildneress but unless the river is up the float is simple. Naturally, sun lotion, glasses, life jackets and plenty of liquid is a necessity. I will check on a three day float for you and send a PM tar12. Ozark
